\"For Filing as Alternate\" is blank... not an alt. option?

Can I use this airport as an alternate if the filing as alt. sx. is blank? I'm guessing no. It also says NA under the categories. The airport (KDLS The Dalles, Oregon) has a VOR approach and no tower. Since it's non-precision why can't I use it as an alt. if the wx. if forecast to be standard mins. 800ft./2 miles? thanks

With the tower closed, the NAVAID would be unmonitored, as well as not being to acertain the local altimeter.

If there's no tower, is there other WX reporting capability such as AWOS/ASOS? [121/135 ops]

On the upper left corner of the chart, the triangle "A" with "N/A" next to it means the airport is not usable as an alternate. In this case, since there is an ASOS, it is unusable because the facility is unmonitored.

This is for NOAA charts? My Jepp chart doesn't have the triangle.

Are you looking at an approach plate or the airport diagram page? I think Jepp puts the alternate minimums (as well as alt/no alt notification) on their diagram pages.

Ah yes. Sorry about that, I'm used to NOAA.

For Jepps, Kellwolf is correct. Alternate info. is found on the airport diagram page.
