Hey guys,


Im pretty new on this forum and read some threats about Sheppard Air and their test prep..

I took my AGI couple of months ago scored 98, FIA two weeks ago scored 84 and noticed somes changes, but last week I took my FOI and scored 62 and noticed a lot of change... Im now studying on the Gleims 2012 ( I was previously on the 2009 version that's explain why also!) and still don't see some questions i had on my FOI of last week...

I was readings things about it on your forum and some guys recommand Sheppard Air for the test prep software and it seems to be pretty good! I wanted to know if some of you guys took it last months using their preparation in case of the FAA changed again the questions... If you have some feedback about that!

The only feedback I have is order Sheppard Air. Now. I studied for 5 hours and got a 90 on my FOI written.
 
ok thanks for your answer.. When did you take it exactly? Im gonna order it asap but as last year they changed the bank of questions around february I was wondering if it would be the same this year and as i already spent and lost $150 last week I don't wanna do the same mistake...

I took it January 5th. You'll be fine.

You won't get that reprint crap with Sheppard Air. They stay on top of the changes on a daily basis. They are very good at what they do!!
 
One of my instructors recommended Sheppard Air for the FOI and FIA written tests. I did a lot of research about SA and pass rates and this thread came up a lot. I felt I should share my comments about SA in case others find themselves questioning the best route for passing these tests.

As others have posted, make sure that you read through the updated Aviation Instructor's Handbook for a base knowledge for the FOI. As far as using Sheppard Air, DO IT! My practice tests, just like they say, were within 2% of what I scored on the real test. I passed the FIA with a 94% March 29th and passed the FOI with a 96% today. No surprise questions on either test. As a disclaimer though, learn and understand the content when taking these tests because your going to need it for the practical test.
 
A friend recommended Sheppard Air to me after he took his FOI in 17 minutes and got a 96. I bought it, and also recommended it to another friend. He and I both got 100% in 15 minutes :) Study the material EXACTLY as they recommend. Sheppard Air has really figured out how to study for the FOI. Good luck.

Walking across the field to the FSDO with an 89 on FIA and 100 on FOI helps the confidence...just make sure to learn some and not only memorize the info!
 
I have heard nothing but great stuff about shepperd air. I got their ATP prep last night but haven't jumped in yet. All of my students that use it nail their writtens.
 
Another huge asset of Sheppard Air is not just doing awesome on the written. You can learn quite a bit from them too. Read their explanations with the each question and you will come away with a good knowledge foundation to build on.
 
My question about Sheppard Air is - How can they have all of the possible questions that might appear on the test? The FAA no longer publishes the entire question pool. Matter of fact, they only publish a fraction of the questions that might appear on the test.
So unless Sheppard Air has some special arrangement with the FAA (NOT) or they're engaged in some clandestine operation to obtain actual questions, they should be about as effective as anyone else in prepping someone for a test. Anyone exlpain why their test prep is better before I spend my hard-earned money?

Well I do have an idea of how they do it but it is not my place to say and a lot of it is proprietary. They have their methods to get the questions (legally!!) where they shine is with their awesome memory aids to help with many questions. I can say 100% you will not be sorry by using them over any other company out there. They have impressed me with there preps and excellent customer service I would suggest them to anyone over any other program.

I am getting ready to take my AGI and have been researching the different companies out there. I used ASA for my FOI and did not do very good, so I think it is time to find a different company. I have been reading a lot about how the FAA doesn't publicly publish the questions anymore and how a lot of people are failing because companies aren't getting the database anymore. SO I guess what I am getting at after reading your response is that SA does have the real database???? If so I will be one happy camper and will study from them. Thanks.
 
SA does only use the current database...no extra questions, no less. You'll walk out in 30 minutes or less on any written, with a score above a 90. If you don't get the 90, they give you your money back. Get it.

If you get their software for any exam prep they offer you will do well. I have used them and have friends that have used them for about every prep they offer. We all have scored 90 or higher on every written. I am about to start studying for my ATP around Thanksgiving. I know I will do well.

When you call be sure to tell them you want the AGI prep not CFI.

It's awesome. You get your money back if you don't get a 90. You get a discount if you can find a question not in their database. You can't lose!
 
I was using GLEIM for everything from PPL through Commercial because the school I'm at required them for our ground courses and used them as practice tests for the FAA written tests, but I just started using Sheppard Air while working on my CFI and won't ever go back to GLEIM test prep again. Didn't see one unfamiliar question on the FOI written after studying using Sheppard Air..
