FLYING TO CANADA

I am thinking about making a flight from WAsh DC to Toronto. Anyone flown in there? what airport should we plan on landing at? any special procedures to get in? what about clearning customs. I am going to start planning this soon, but i figured id start here to get a good idea of what im up against.

I would recommend flying into City Centre Airport CYTZ. Nice airport on the lake with a great view of the downtown area on arrival and departure. Customs is located on the field just let the controller know you want a taxi to customs.

It's a rather easy flight. You'll want to plan an "airport of entry" on return to the states so customs can clear you upon return. Getting into the US is a bit more involved for obvious reasons. You'll want to be aware of Canada ATC user fees which will be billed to whoever the N number is registered to. Remember to stay in the aircraft till the custom officers authorize that you can step out (both in US and Canada). You'll have to time your arrival times +/- 15 minutes for customs as well. Helpful links below.

As for Entry requirements I would look into CANPASS

This guide at AOPA (you need to be a member though) is a bit dated but helpful:

Actually, not. Canpass rocks. Beats U.S. entry 10 ways to Sunday.

Ditto on City Centre airport. Next best thing since Meigs got plowed.

Ya you can get almost anywhere from City Centre airport, theres a theme park like 10 minute walk, its kinda for kids tho, then theres the CN tower, air canada centre, sky dome, etc..

I live like an hour drive from there.
