Flying the Navajo ?

They're not that bad, but the crossfeed procedure still has me mystified. I hope I don't ask too much about that on the checkride. Agree with you on the trim indicators.

It's simple. Turn on all your pumps, open cross feed, turn off fuel selector to tank you are not using. Turn off that sides emr. pump/monitor pressure, pull circut breaker for that sides pump/monitor pressure, turn off other emr. pump/monitor pressure. Run the checklist to make sure you haven't missed anything. Bassically, for the side that you are not using, you need to turn everything off and monitor the pressures as you do with the cross feed valve open.

the ho is a nice stable airplane. never had a problem starting cold or hot when you bring the throttle to "the click" mixtures to 6gph, then ICO - starter and enrich as firing. Works like a charm.

The only other pointer is that you're going to learn to walk the throttles in micro-inches or you;re going to have your MP all over the place... :)

The mixture can be like that as well. Can't stand the aircraft that will cause the fuel flow to change 3gph whne you tap the mixture.

Overall, I've enjoyed flying it so far. Fairly straight-forward, honest airplane. Although I can't seem to get the nosewheel to gently fall to the runway on landing most of the time.

Just refer to the checklist, Its not a memory item for cross feed so there is no need to try.

These engines are a bit touchy. I flew a 2001 Trinidad GT with the TIO-540, and I never remember chasing the MP like we do in the Navajo. Mixture's not that bad. Very similar to late-model turbo Barons and Bonanzas in terms of sensitivity. But yeah, still a pain to set with any precision.

Oh believe me, I'm not trying. :p
