Flying Clubs/Partnerships

I finally finished my PPL last Wednesday and I am now awaiting my card. In the meantime, I am moving up to Peabody, MA (near KBVY). Anyone know of any partnerships/clubs etc so that i don't have to use the Beverly flight school (www.beverlyflightcenter.com) and their outrageously priced planes?

I looked into just buying a plane out of frustration, but my wife said that if i try, she will kill me . Plus, she said the next time we spend what it cost to get my license ($13000), we are going to spend it on her.

So, that leaves me with renting, a partnership or a club.

Ideas? Thoughts? Websites?

Clubs seem to be a pretty good deal. I know I looked into one near me and it was relatively cheap. There was a one time membership fee of around $2,000 and after that $60/month + one mandatory billed flight hour/month. I'm thinking about joining.

I fly with a club. It was a one time $180 startup fee, then $45 a month after that. 150's are $80/hour wet, 172's are $105/hour wet (with one being a SuperHawk :nana2:), and there's an Arrow that's $130/hour wet.

It's pretty simple, and they're a friendly bunch of guys. If you do want to fly on weekends (and I assume this would go for any partnership or club), book the plane early. It can get pretty busy.

Clubs are a great deal if you make good use if them. The club I an in (which I don't use enough or at all) has 6 a/c 2/172s @ $56/hr, 2/182s @ $99/hr and 2-210's @ $129/hr. $150 month plus flight time.

$13k for your ppl...Damn!

If you love the thrill of building, like me, then you can always homebuild your plane.

I'm thinking about joining a club too. The initial fee at this one is $500 and then $95 per month. After hearing about some of the other prices this one seems like an even better deal. They have a Warrior for 45 dry and a Skylane for something like 67 dry. The most expensive plane they have is a 2005 Saratoga at $99 dry. All of them are G430/530 equipped to. I'm paying about $95 dry for a 172S and R right now but I'm still kinda stuck on if I should join this one. I know it seems like a no brainer, but I don't make that much working the line at the airport. I'm wondering if it's going to suck to see that $95 go every month and then still have to pay for the actual flying. I'm kind of stuck on deciding since I usually use the more expensive 172S and R when I log hood time with my CFI since that's where he instructs.

I was shocked - SHOCKED, I tell you - when I got an email this weekend from the guy who runs the club I'm a member of. He reduced the rates on the airplanes since fuel is cheaper.

Nice bennie, there.

I've used clubs almost exclusively. In addition to having somewhat better rates on rental, I've met a lot of interesting people.

If you fly enough, it's more than worth it.

Oh yeah, Texins just knocked their's down a month or two ago as well. Certainly a nice surprise. It'll suck though when fuel goes back up.

Did NTXFC? Just curious. I heard a lot of people were abandoning that club for a while because of the combined fuel issues and recent slate of Mx issues. Nothing unsafe, it's just that planes were often unavailable because of it.

Honestly I couldn't tell you. There's usually one or two planes down on the Texins website, but it hasn't affected me much. It would be nicer to see that process speed up some though.

At RFC in KADS we are paying roughly $55 a month, plus $500 refundable initial.

We have 3 F33 bonanzas that go for between $165-175, but that is too rich for my blood. There is a 177RG that's just shy of $110 wet, and a PA28 for around $90. One of the F33s and the Cherokee is down for Mx at the moment.

The Cardinal is bar far the best deal in the club, it's real cherry, I'm a big fan (have around 70hrs in her).

On the whole I am very happy with my decision to join a club, definitely saved me some money and met a lot of cool people, the downside is that unless they have a large number of training planes, it will take you longer to get your ratings than an FBO/school.

I ask again: anyone know of any flight clubs/partnerships near KBVY?!?!?

Thanks ahead of time :-)
