Did you see the hockey at the Olympics? That was some great hockey and there was absolutely no fighting. That's hockey like it's supposed to be played!

Too bad there are more baseball towns than hockey towns. Not to mention, unlike hockey, baseball is watched in places other than just the towns that have teams.

On a different note, I did watch the hockey in the Olympics a couple years ago and it was pretty interesting.

Only a select few ever really play hockey. It is situated in the Nort/North East. You are not gonna find any hockey towns in say, Texas. They dont grow up playing on the frozen lakes and ponds

Yes, it was great hockey. Olympic hockey is much different then US/Canada hockey. It is played on a much larger ice surface. On a large rink you have to rely on technique and speed, instead of brute force, and dumping the puck. I like both styles of play. Although, the NHL is starting a new problem with all their no fighting rules. Many of the teams have antagonizers now. Hitting goalies, taking cheap shots would have never flown a few years ago, they would have done it once, and got a a$$ kicking then they would have stopped for the night. Fighting in the game actually has a reason.

Yep I love olympic hockey and the NHL.

I like the fighting. I think the rules they have now are pretty dumb. If they just let things go the players would police themselves more. I will say that there is way to much grabbing going on in the NHL now. I wish they played on a larger rink or only played 4 on 4. Calgary is good but they are practically holding somone on every shift. I am sure it will frustrate a fast team.

Baseball stinks. Hockey is expanding. If the NHL will sit tight with the teams it has and allow the ECHL/AHL to expand there will be more support in "non-hockey" towns. Our ECHL team is doing wonders to help create interest in the sport of hockey. We even have High School hockey now!

Hell yes!!! There is way too much grabbing going on. The reffs need to start calling more penalties. I know its playoffs, and they are more lax, but dang it looks ridiculous

Seeing how the Dallas Stars won a Stanley Cup a few years ago....

Anyway, they do need to open up the game somewhat. It seems like the only time you get guys flat out sprinting without someone holding on to them is when they're going back to touch up for icing.

And that's another thing. They should just blow the whistle on that one because someone is going to get hurt trying to get there first. Leave it to the discretion of the officials. If nobody on the team clearing the puck down the ice could play it, then blow the whistle right away so that you don't have two guys hitting the boards in an awkward position.

Agreed! Automatic icing should be a rule. They use it in the minors. Also, they should have tag up offsides rule. I don't like the NHL's offsides calls. I wish they could come up with a way to make the left wing lock and the trap illegal forms of defense but obviously they can't.

That is why the Tampa Philly games have been fun to watch. Tampa doesn't use those very often. Much more aggressive play. Its fun to watch.

Yeah, I would like to see the tag up offsides and another thing I'd like to see is the elimination of the two line pass rule. That would open up the game some more.

I know that some people would say that would encourage cherry picking, and it likely would. But you would also have more breakaways, which would be exciting. Plus, if they put that in with the automatic icing rule that you and I would like to see, you better click on that pass or you're coming right back down to your end.

They have both of those in college hockey (no two line pass and automatic icing). It's really nice and it doesn't really encourage cherry picking all that much because if you don't have all your guys engaged in the play you are more likely to give up an odd man rush. JMO

Well as much as I would like to see that, I think tonight is going to be Philly 3 Tampa 2.

hopefully Tampa can keep up the work ethic they had in the last game.

Two line pass could definately go. It would add a lot to the game.

WAY TO GO FLYERS!!!!! I was sweating all through that game! Thankfully we have Primeau! He and Gagne played exceptionally well tonight. Lets hope they can pull it through in Tampa on Saturday!!!

Whew!!! What an AMAZING game. I was saying halfway through the overtime that no matter what happens, it has been a fantastic game to watch. Now they just need to ride the momentum such a win provides, and get themselves to the finals against Calgary.

That is definately a momentum builder for philly. Tampa is going to have to find a way to bounce back. They definately need to create more offense than they did last night (I know there were 4 goals for Tampa) Esche had very little work in the 3rd and in overtime. Conversly, Tampa's goalie ( I won't even attempt spelling it) was getting lit up and was having to make way to many big saves.

If Lecavlier's line can continue to score and some of the rest of Tampa can get rolling I think they can win. They also have been letting a lot more shots get on net than they used to allow. I don't know if it is because of philly's size or what but they have to work on that.

Lastly, Damn that Primeau!!! He is really good and he is a giant.

I wouldn't say that. Neither team has been able to put together back to back wins in this series. I REALLY like Tampa's chances at home.

In the last game here, Philly crumbled just like the Bolts did last night.

Anyone know how ticket sales for the Cup work? Are they already pre sold or will they go on sale once the teams are figured out?
