Fly-in resorts?

On Friday I'm going to be flying a T206H from Leesburg, Virginia to Alamogordo, New Mexico with new owners who purchased the plane this week.

We're in no rush to get the trip done...probably split it up over Friday and Saturday. We also need it to take at least 15 flight hours, as the insurance company wants the owners to each have 15 hours dual in it.

When talking to one of the owners tonight, she thought it would be fun to stay at some kind of fly-in resort or other nice accomodations with something to do on Friday night.

Any suggestions? We can go pretty much anywhere as long as it's somewhere generally west or southwest of Virginia, about 6-8 flight hours away. The new owners are a middle-aged husband and wife team, so keep that in mind for whatever they might like.

Hangar Hotel in Fredericksburg TX. T82 also has a diner on the field, and the town is really nice.

Lake Lawn Lodge in Delevan, WI (C59)

It's where I flew my date for prom dinner and my parents for their 25th anniversary. Great resturaunt on the lake, nice rooms, golf, and all the other usual things.

The airport kinda sucks though.

BTW, have you been to Alamagordo? Just like Leesburg... but different. I sometimes take students up there to practice... ahem... "soft field" landings.

Gastons in north Arkansas is a great fly-in resort. I believe the identifier is 3M0.

I'll second Gastons. Watch people fish for trout while you eat some good food. Oh yea and the airport is kind of interesting i guess lol. Actually it's one of the neatest I've ever seen.

If they've got cash fly into Hot Springs, VA (KHSP) and stay at The Homestead. Incredible airport...even more incredible hotel.
