Flight Time/Duty Time changes???

So whatever happened to the FAA looking out for our safety by updating those archaic flight time/duty time regulations? I saw ALPA's request back in October, but have heard absolutely nothing about it since then.

Still in the process of design. FAA has indicated that there will be a delay in the rule making, beyond the original January 1 deadline.

ATN_Pilot, along with various other sources, indicate that the earliest changes to the FT/DT regulations will come either during the summer of early fall of 2010.

Congress has put the heat and pressure on the FAA to actually do something this time, as opposed to the past 19 years where they have indicated they would execute a change in direction - yet always failed to do so.

What the hell is wrong with them.. You could figure it out in an afternoon.. idiots.

domestic 12hr on/12hr off.. easy to understand, safe.. done deal, sign it.. be done with it. Non extendable ever.. F- the airlines if the cheap bastards don't like it. Raise ticket prices, hire more people. It's not that friggen hard to understand.

But..No, they will make the most complicated chart of absurd limitations known to man that you need an MIT degree to understand and calculate.. probably will actually be worse than it is now.. ooh 10 more minutes of rest after 1 day but duty time extendable to 17hrs after an 8.2 hr rest and 6.3hrs flight time or less due to less exposure to solar radiation and circadian rhythm cycles calculated off your zodiac sign multiplied by age divided by how many days off you have + caloric intake to the 3rd power ..and also no commuting allowed same day, all crews will be expected to live in the crew room full time, bunks will be provided at your expense.. thanks a lot idiots.

The more time between the Colgan crash and the present, the less that heat and pressure is gonna be felt.
