I hope I am not beating a dead horse, but I have been doing some research on flight schools/training academies and was somewhat surprised by the differring costs and time schedules.
I know that ATP advertises the $38k figure and your hours break down to:
200 Hours Logged Time
190 Hours Multi-Engine Time
75 Hours Multi-Engine Cross-Country
62 Hours Multi-Engine Instruction
& Flight Checks
3 Hours Citation 501 Jet
50 Hours Multi-Engine FTD
10 Hours Single-Engine Time
I received some info from another school and if you come in w/your Pvt. it is almost 18k more and you end up with significantly less multi-time. I am wondering what could be the reason's for the difference in the costs.
I would not make cost the only factor in deciding a school choice, but it does have to be taken into account. Another question would be if the mulit-time is so important, why would one choose the school with the lesser amount of the coveted multi-time.
Some of the factors that I have been considering are:
location, price, amount of time, multi-time, and equipment.
How many schools did others visit before making a choice?
