Flight Engineer (FEX) Written Prep & Exam

Just thought I would post this. When I was at ATP, there were 2 guys taking the above exam. They were in the back room doing the test prep. Then when they took the exam, there was supposed to be someone who was proctering the exam, my instructor. However, he was busy in the other room with myself and the other student. Seems like an easy way to pass the exam, take a buddy, go take the test, and then just ask him when you dont know a question. Believe me, the "proctor" would never know.

I assume anyone taking the flight engineer exam would be doing so for a reason. Would you risk everything you've earned so far by conversing with your buddy on the chance that you won't be caught by the test proctor in the next instant?

I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure the proctor doesn't have to be in the room if there's a camera, or a window they can see into the room with.

Fair enough, but there was no camera, and the proctor wasnt watching the room. I am in no way saying the people inside were cheating, I am just remarking on the lack of procedures there.

No, I just want my loan money sent back and would appreciate it if I was treated nicely rather then poorly as I am being treated now by the staff. Its a shame that they treat you like S$#T when all you want to do is quit the program. I know its a lot of money theyll loose, but its a lot of money for an individual to pay.

Things take time buddy, don't expect to have an instant turn around. Think about how long it took you to get the money in the first place. Paperwork has to be done. Good luck on your future training.

Just relax, no one is going to keep your money, they can't,

Heh, Ill try. But thats the problem it took about 5 mins on the phone from intial contact with the women to getting my loan approved. then the paper work was fed exed out I got it the next day, then had to fed ex it back, total time was less then 3 days from phoine call to money being disbursed...

Well, everybody want to make some money.

Only thing you and I can wish is better customer service wherever we decide do business with. By the way, it takes time to do things. When I screwed up my initial house payment(about 30,000), it tooks about 2 weeks to get paper works and records straight. Eventually, things work out.

True... Im just waiting to see if they stick to their posted discontinuance policy.

It's simple and ethical: You or ATP reserves the right to terminate your training at any time throughout the course of your Airline Training Program, making you (or a designated lending source) eligible for a pro-rated refund which will be issued within 15 days following program termination.

Although I am still waiting for the credit of 1000 back which was supposed to happen upon the first disbursement of the key bank loan on the 28 of Febuary.

You need to read the post carefully friend. They require a 1000 non refundable deposit prior to the start date, then when they receive the first disbursement from the loan, they credit the 1000 back to your card and take the 1000 from the loan to make up for it.

^^^^^^^^^^^^
That was my understanding as well when I signed up, I think you are out 1000.00. (non-refundable)

Yea, I know I am out the 1000.00. But technically, i would be out 2000.00 right now, as they havent credited the card back.
Now if they dont take it from the loan disbursement of 7995 then that would be fine, but since the loan was disbursed for 7995, which according to their finance women, includes the 1000 deposit, and not 6995 which would be without the deposit, then I should have been credited back the 1000.00 to my card. But as it stands now, at least till they return the loan I am out 8995.

Did you complete the program or leave early as well?

ATP probably processes credits on a regular timetable like many companies, say 2-3 times a month. For example, I sent in a reimbursement form for cross country expenses and it took 10 days for the credit to show up on my credit card statement. There was a similar short lag in time when I was reimbursed a second time by check.

Bluehen, it's now only been 72 hours since you got this ball rolling. Take a deep breath and.....

As a current student that had the $1000 credit sent back to me it took a while. I think the credit took a couple of weeks to process and it showed up on my next months statement. I am not sure that is solely ATP's fault it may have to do with how your time period and statements worked on your card. I am sorry that you have had a bad experience with ATP but it seems like in every one of your posts you have got the organization all figured out from your one day at the location. They may have issues at some of their locations but to start accusing them of not having proper procedure for your written tests and having instructors that don't know anything after spending maybe four hours with the guy is pretty brazen.

You know what you saw and how your experience went, but don't let you being mad at the office allow you to start making statements that you really know very little about. Hopefully you find a great school to finish your training and we hear success stories in you future.

THe women at the financing dept. told me that when the first disbursment was made from the loan, I would be credited back the 1000.00. Thats electronic, shouldnt take that long.

If you re-read my posts, I am speaking of specifically ATP manassas, in fact if you read my first post, I say It may be different at other locations.

I dont recall ever saying anything about written exams. As for the instructors, i was talking about those at Manassas, in fact I gave kudos to the instructor whom I did my initial interview with, he knew his stuff. How long is one supposed to take to determine if someone knows there stuff anyways? 4hrs, 6hrs, 8hrs, 90 days, 10 months, the point is the basics should be down pat.

Again, I am only speaking of my experiences, and I dont think I am making any statements regarding MY experiences that I know little about. Remember, I was the one who was there.

HOLY CRAP!!!

How big is your house???/

On to the initial subject...

I wouldn't recommend cheating on any test that is proctored. At ATP Dallas, we caught one guy cheating and it's a very involved process from there. The proctor had to give a written statement to the FAA and Cats Testing. The FAA was notified, and his work place was notified... basically this guy totally screwed up his life in less than one hour. Sig could definately fill in the details... he was the proctor.

I personally was proctoring one day and when I went in to clear the room prior to the testing... I looked under his mouse mat and found a sheet of paper folded exactly the same size as the mouse pad and it was full of notes! I asked him if it was his... he denied it... even though he'd been at that station studying all day.

I couldn't prove it was his so I shredded it and proceeded to further inspect the area and give him the standard "don't cheat... it's not worth it" speech, before starting the test.

Bottom line... "don't cheat... it's not worth it"!

...and I wouldn't want to "suggest" that it may be a good idea to anyone. I know you want your money ASAP Bluehen... I would too if I were in your position... But ATP is far from ATA and other schools who hold on to students funds for longer than needed.

That being said... please inform us if your money situation is NOT resolved in the stated policy period.
