Flexjet and Netjets

Does anyone know what the average ago of a new hire is with these companies? The ones I see around the airport seem to all be over 30. Also with Netjets I'm sure a new hire would start flying a Citation or something. Once in the company do you get to bid to fly larger aircraft based on seniority? I'm wondering how that works.

My old CFI just got hired at Flexjet awhile back in the LJ-45. He's 24. Also, I was in MKE last week and saw an NJA Citation Excel driver and he looked pretty young too. I think if you meet the mins, you're good to go. NJA_Capt would be able to enlighten us more on the subject too.

We have graphs on our NetJets pilots website for pilot age overall and age of probationary pilots
(ie... 1 year or less = newhires). I can give you a ballpark on some of the figures.
Less than 5 pilots are 20-25.
Approx 200 pilots between 25-40
Approx 40 are over 60
Overall, there are very few pilots here less than 30. Obviously, with the age 60 rule, many of our newhires are retirees.

It depends on your background and company needs at the time you are hired. Newhires can go into everything with the exception of the BBJ, Ce650 and BAe1000. The latter two are being phased out.

All aircraft positions are bid by seniority, assuming your seat lock is no longer in effect.

What airframe would a 650 guy get thrown into as a new hire?
Hard to say. Depends on the HR lady's mood that day. Could be the anything. Logic would seem to aim towards an Excel, CX, or Sovereign. Or....you could get the DA2000

the gerbil on the wheel in my head has'nt stopped running...he will get tired at some point, till then, the thoughts of things...

...or Sovereign...

I can't get over that airplane and it's climb capability. The guys who fly the one that lives in our hangar said they took off from PBI and went to FL450 in 16-18 minutes...(not fully loaded, but it's a Cessna!)

NJA, If i got a job flying say, an excel. Would it work like an airline to where if I wanted to fly a G5 and had enough senority with NJ they would let me? thanks. and by the way what do you fly for them?

Presently the GVs are in a separate division (ie....non-transferable) In three years it might be another story. NetJets does bid aircraft like the airlines, whatever your seniority number will hold you will be awarded. I wouldn't count on getting a GV anytime soon though. Currently guys are waiting 2-4 years just to get an Ultra or Beechjet left seat. Even in the Gulfstream side you have to be a super senior GIV pilot to bid the GV.

So they'd put somebody into a Citation X, but not into a III/VI/VII?

That doesn't make much sense to me.

It's not a qualification issue. We are not buying anymore VIIs or 1000s (only had 14/27 to start with). Those aircraft are being sold and we are only operating a handful of each. Therefore, we don't need pilots in those types.

Just as a clarification: We only operate VIIs, no III/VIs. Guys hired into the CX usually have a lot of previous swept wing time (airline/military).

ha...both NJ and Flight options are getting rid of their VII's now and its scary to think of just how hard they were used.
