Flag vs. Domestic vs. Supplemental

Can someone give me a simple definition or example of what makes each one different from the other? The FAR/AIM is not very helpful, or I just can't find what I am looking for...

Thanks in advance....

Wow, I was just thinking how much I hate those terms and their suddle differences ;)

(Ive been studying for interviews and the ATPw)

I think this is correct:

Flag = international flying
Domestic = flying in the states
Supplmental = essentially 135 but with large aircraft, normally known as the ACMI carriers such as Polar, Atlas, Omni, etc.

That's the jest of it

Since Kristie is out of country, I'll help pick up the slack on spelling patrol. :)

subtle, not suddle
gist, not jest

Hmmm.....instead of grammar police, maybe we can institute the pontificating pirates.

So am I correct to assume that an airline like Southwest, Frontier, etc are Domestic. Delta, United, etc due to their international routes are Flag?

So if an airline has say one international route to say, Mexico, does that bump them into the Flag category??

Carriers like DL are Flag on International and Domestic on domestic routes. Each has different sets of rules to follow.

FedEx is a Supplemental, which has pros and cons to it, depending on the issue, but gives you an example of how large a company can be.

each flight is dispatched under one of the sets of rules. IE delta from atl-cvg is going to be 121 domestic, and atl-europe will be dispatched 121 flag. Flights to mexico/canada are dispatched 121 domestic, at least at xjt anyway.

The duty/flight time limits are different for the domestic vs flag, among other things.

Whatever....we need a spell check on this thing. Then you'll be out of a G-O-B ;)

The sad part is there is one...upper right corner, just like it looks in Word. Go to post a reply, and then look at the checkmark with ABC above it. No more excuses, now, right? Duh :insane: .

Yes, but then you have to download the program from the net:
