Time: Hillsboro Aero Academy specializes in training students pursuing a career in aviation. Our Flight Academy operates a large fleet of more than 70 aircraft. We have numerous relationships with airlines and professional aviation organizations throughout the world for training their next class of line pilots. We are also the only authorized partner for flight training in connection with Portland Community College’s Aviation Science degree program. Our flight instructors often fly 1,000+ hours each year and our professional pilot program requires a great amount of dual instruction in multi-engine aircraft to quickly accumulate your logged flight time.
Compensation for our entry level (less than 100 hours dual given) CFI positions are paid $17.50 per flight hour. Relocation assistance included as a reimbursement when you relocate to Hillsboro. After reaching a 100 hours of dual given provided you are eligible for reimbursement for your actual relocations expenses only. If you demonstrate leadership and prove your capabilities as a Hillsboro Aero academy CFI you will have the upgrade possibilities for check/stage instructor positions and also higher pay rates. Within a few months as a CFI here, and aircraft rentals become available at discount rate. Simulator use by our CFI’s for currency or training is available for no charge (off peak periods). From a flight training perspective, this position will diversify your decision making with regards to terrain and weather conditions certain to enhance your skills, and improve your future marketability as a pilot to air carriers.
Our instructors get the opportunity to fly numerous hours in
actual IMC on their instrument training flights!This is a tremendous experience! These qualifications will stand out on your resume and make the difference when you are applying to scheduled carriers later in your career. The geography of our operational areas is quite diverse and challenging as a pilot due to the weather phenomena associated with this region. Located in the middle of the Pacific Northwest Hillsboro Aero Academy has a variety of unique terrain. The Cascade Mountains 50 miles to our east (with 11,000’ peaks), the high desert 25 miles beyond that to the East, and the Pacific Ocean just 50 miles to our West.
Great Quality of Life? Yes. Oregon is not only one of the most beautiful places to live in the United States. Hillsboro Aero Academy has three operating bases; Hillsboro is located only 10 miles from Portland, Oregon. Portland Troutdale is only 12 miles East of Downtown Portland.
Our third location is in the Eastern Oregon high desert city of Prineville (Airport S39). The cost of living is very affordable and there is no sales tax on most items purchased within the state.
