I can't believe I haven't gotten any bites on this...

Just to reiterate what a great deal this is...

You can buy a new first gen Ipad 64Gb Wifi+3G for $729 or a refurb for $629...does NOT include the $79 AppleCare Warranty or $30 case. My unit DOES include AppleCare and the Case.

So to reiterate...you could be paying $838 + tax for new, $738 + tax for refurb or $550 + shipping for mine.

Who wants this puppy? I have the original box, it's in EXCELLENT condition...comes with a really nice black case, factory warranty AND I've verified that AppleCare is transferrable with the product...

$550 + Shipping is a steal! PM me and take it off my hands already! :)

there is a definite difference between his and mine. mine can access the internet anytime, his required wifi.

On whose 3G network? Is it compatible with Sprint's, Verizon's or just AT&T?

I've been using it on AT&T's network. I'm not sure if you can use it on other networks

The iPad she has is only compatible with the AT&T network. You could get it to work on Tmobile's network, however that would require hacking up a sim card to make it fit, and using Edge service (about 200Kbits/s download, 35Kbits/s upload = super slow). Tmobile's 3G band is on a different frequency so the iPad and iPhone cannot pick up their their 3G signal.

On Tmobile, you need both 1700mhz and 2100mhz for a 3G connection, one for upload, one for download.

The iPhone and iPad GSM models support: UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)

The 3G iPad is not locked so you can put any GSM carriers sim card in is and get service. Just make sure that carrier sells the iPhone, that's the easiest way to make sure that the frequency bands are the correct ones. If you travel abroad, its as simple as getting a prepaid micro sim card from any service provider that sells iPhones.

This is a REALLY good deal on a 1st Gen iPad.

Can you or someone elaborate abit more about this? I was under the impression that you couldnt get into the iPad device to put any SIM card/etc into it, therefore making it basically locked into whatever service it came with,

2 weeks ago I got a first gen 64gb wifi + 3G with free shipping from AT&T for $529 that's probably why your not getting any bites. Not sure if there are any left at that price, they were really trying to liquidate them.

You can use a paperclip or the included sim card removal tool and change out sim cards. However, the iPad only uses microSIM cards and I am not sure if the other GSM carriers have come on board with them yet. However, again, if you were so inclined you could cut out a normal sized GSM SIM card from tmobile/etc in the shape of a micro SIM card and it would still work.

Thanks for the info! Did yours come with AppleCare and a protective case? If not, then the $550 I offer, which is $21 more, is right in the "move it" market.

Does this apply only to the 1st Gen iPad? Or also to the iPad2 ?

Second generation as well, but what said previously still applies -- the 2nd gen iPad doesn't support the 1700mhz 3G that tmobile uses.

How 'old' is yours and how much time on the warranty? if someone is given the choice of brand new vs. not brand new at the same price, it's gonna be hard....
