First 121 job

Grats, welcome to the world!

Some advice...First of all, the life as a regional pilot is what you make it. it already sucks enough as it is, so try to keep a positive outlook on things and don't get caught up in all the griping that WILL go on around you.

For training...start on limitations and memory items now. Don't devote hours a day to them since you are going to be busy learning all the other crap they throw at you, but at least start on them. 20 minutes a day. 10 minutes a day. Read AOM 1 section 2 while you poop.

That's all I got for now.

Congrats, welcome to the 121 club!

There might be some "suck" to the job, but it's honestly pretty negligible to what you COULD be doing instead... I love the job. Enjoy it!!

When you go to sim, know your flows, procedures, call-outs, and "fly the damn airplane," and you'll be fine.

Thanks everyone, I'm oddly looking forward to studying, but I haven't received any material yet, and I'm definitely not studying anything they don't sent. I don't want to go down the road of trying to relearn stuff because I put the cart before the horse, but overall I'm looking forward to it. I've learned to drown out the "debbie downers" on other forums. I'm sure there are going to be some things that suck, but I couldnt imagine sitting in an office all day. I'd go bat**** crazy doing that. @Finny how has training been going for you, and whats the timeline looking like? also what equipment did you get, and what did the pay look like when you first started training if you don't mind me asking? Just trying to do a little budgeting.

Phill,

I have a interview with 9E this coming Wednesday. I already got offered a job with another carrier, but this is the one I want. I have heard nothing but good things there and hope I get it!

I really enjoyed the atmosphere and pace of ground school. One week for indoc, one week for model specific general subjects, and two weeks to cover systems. The instructors were really knowledgeable and very positive about all the changes at 9E. Don't worry about studying anything before hand, you'll have plenty of time to study during the evenings and weekends.

You learn what your domicile and plane will be the first day of the 2nd week. I got the -200 out of MSP, which is what I wanted since I'm local to MSP. I'd say 90% of the people got awarded their first or second choice.

My sim training so far has been dragging out a little bit because of a new revision to our flight procedures. Basically had to relearn everything on a FTD before moving on to the sims. Thankfully my first sim lesson is tomorrow and I get to knock the dust off of my flying skills!

Welcome again! @dhood84 good luck on your interview this week!
