Firefox "Apostrophe" Bug . . .

So, in one or two of the forums I go into, when I hit the apostrophe, it opens the "find" menu. It's sporadic - does it sometimes, and not others. I've done some internet searching, and it seems that it's a weird FF bug.

Anybody else find this problem??

Not so much a bug but a short cut key. If you are focused in a text box and press the ' then you will get the find box at the bottom. As long as you are focused (have a blinking cursor) in a text box of some sort then it shouldn't be happending.

"It's not a bug, it's a feature!" :)

Is the problem just on jetcareers.com? Does it happen when you've got the text edit window open? It may be an AJAX problem.

Oh, no - it happens alot - on quite a few websites. It's just so hit-or-miss.

Maybe I'll do some more research on it and see if I can get you some answers, MrFunnyLookingITGuy!

I had/have a problem with Firefox being a memory hog, especially when I open multiple tabs. It drains my old laptop down so bad that it takes f....o.....r.....e.....v.....e.....r to load everything. Finally I switched to Opera, and man is life ever so much better again. Much quicker tab/page loads, even on this old P3 machine.

Lloyd, I have the same issue. As soon as I upgraded to Firefox vs 1.5, all hell broke loose. It crashes all the time, apostrophe automatically opens up "ctrl+F" function, down/up arrows and page up/down buttons don't allow me to browse up and down webpages. As soon as I close FF down and restart, it all works again... but I'd say that a few times per day it happens. It will happen on webmail (where you type into a text box) and other message boards that I'm on.

I found out how to fix it!!! Check this out:

Open about:config in firefox, and search for find. Change..

accessibility.typeaheadfind.flashBar user set integer 0

to...

accessibility.typeaheadfind.flashBar default integer 1
