Looking to relocate to the Bakersfield area or possible LA...any help would be more than welcome and I would consider somewhere else in the area.

IFTA out of Bakersfield is always hiring instructors. However, be warned that they train japanese and other asian students who always have an english problem that you, as an instructor, have to deal with. Other than that, the pay and work is great. I was considering it, but I didn't really want to move in with my parents in Shafter.

Channel Islands out of CMA, Rolling Hills out of TOA, and a bunch of of other places in LGB are hiring. Just drop your resume and I'm sure you'll get a call or two.

I think IFTA requires CFII/MEI and 250 DG.

There's a huge need for CFIs now; you shouldn't have a problem finding a job.

No kidding on the CFI shortage. I am 3 for 3 now on CFI job interviews. My current employer can't take all the business coming at them because they don't have enough CFI's to take on all the students.

IFTA is one of the better flight schools with better pay. However, their requirements are CFII/MEI, Class II FAA Medical, 250 hours Instruction Given, 250 hours PIC to include 30 hours Multi-Engine PIC and 50 hours Instrument PIC. I also read somewhere that you have to sign a 2-year contract.

There are quite a few flight schools in California looking for CFIs. Take a look at the AOPA Classifieds, you might find a few job postings located in CA.

Sorry Moxie, didn't see it there. Doug? Can you move my thread to a more applicable folder? Seems like I should have caught that...considering that I just got my CFI this morning and am now responsible for other people as well as myself.
