Yeah, I've got actual in the logbook, but all of that was earned as a primary student! I had to cancel lesson after lesson back then due to IMC. Once I started to get serious about the IR, I couldn't find a cloud in the sky! But today's cross-country BWI-LNS got me a couple of hours of actual, BABY!

DME arcs, ILSs, Localizer backcourses--IFR RULES!

Yes it is. You know what, I'll take a moment to put in a plug for MS2004 (or similar programs). I pre "flew" some of the approaches I was going to encounter. Just going throught the mental processes helped me a great deal. In fact, we were planning to do the ILS, and last minute had to switch to the VOR/DME ARC approach. I'd never flown an arc, except on the computer. Let us just say that things went a lot smoother than they would have gone had I not at least flew them courtesy of Bill Gates!
 
I second MSFS for IFR work. It might not act or feel like a real plane, but it does get your procedures and mental math down before you get in the air.
