First I just want to say thank you to everyone that participates in the wonderful community of Jetcareers. I don’t really post or even lurk much here anymore, but my career progression was definitely aided by this website and the friendships that have come with it.

I’ve been awarded a class date of November 24th for a First Officer position at Frontier! This has been a wild ride. I think I joined Jetcareers in 2006? Maybe 2007 and didn’t take my first flight lesson until 2013. While it took me forever to get here, I am finally here. The advice, mentorship, and friendships from this site were and will continue to be invaluable. I was very fortunate to be able to get into the F9 Cadet Program and after 26 months in the program and over 236 departures and arrivals at the Grand Canyon, I get to trade the caravan in for an A320 with only 1730tt. Definitely grateful of the opportunity I have in front of me.

Shout out to Keith. Wish you were still here to see this homie, I miss our talks and your mentorship.

I am looking to throw a party in Phoenix sometime late October or November depending on what my ATPCTP and type rating course schedule look like. I will post back and anyone and everyone at JC is invited.

I was going to ask if that was Cliff Dwellers in your pic and then saw it was. I flew 206's/207's out of there back in the early 80's with river rafters back to LAS or Boulder. My first real job in aviation. Congratz on F9. I'd say the cadet thing really worked out for you. Is that something you applied for when you went through light aircraft training? What flight school?

That’s what I do too! We pick people up at Bar 10 1z1 then drop them off at cliff dwellers. We do it in the 206, 207, and 208 but are based out of the Grand Canyon instead of Boulder. Did you fly for GCA/Scenic Airlines? All river rafters on their way home after rafting the colorado. I was one of the lucky few that applied to the F9 cadet program as a commercial pilot. Primarily they hired people with zero to low time through ATP flight school. There was a small window of maybe a month or two where they opened it up to people with commercial or higher. I was hired by westwind on July 12th of 2023, accepted into the F9 Cadet program on August 8th of 2023. I honestly feel like I lucked out and won the aviation lottery by getting to skip the regionals.

It was Lake Mead Air out of the old Boulder City airport. The old airport still has an WWII hangar that has historic significace but much of area has been developed. The company went out of business maybe in the 90's. We mostly did west end tours out of Boulder but did some river rafters when it was in season. Maybe it's always in season now. Never worked for Scenic. Didn't have the multi time they wanted back then. The deal was if you worked for Lake Mead for a year the owner would help you get on with Air Nevada. He was such an A hole though and I left early to go to work for the FAA in ATC, which is another story. Ended up at UPS just after they started the airline. Crazy how this career ebbs, flows, and turns out in the end.

Congrats!

As of right now I'm considering the weekend before Halloween, or Saturday November 15th. The tentative schedule has me finishing ATPCTP on November 13th but everything is up in the air until actually confirmed by ATPjets in Dallas.
