Used to be a regular, then became a long-time lurker, mostly in the dispatch forum.
Years ago (over 10 years now) I took a dispatch class, finished it...then never got the license. Life had other plans at the time.
Since that time, I went to work at a now dead Alaska regional airline, then at a 121 supplemental as a "dispatcher," then I wound up getting hired by the Feds and have been in air traffic control over the last 8 years now. But never getting my license was driving me nuts, felt like a chapter I never closed out. Plus, with the precarious nature of maintaining a medical and all the other fun things that come with being in ATC, felt like I needed something as a backup career.
So, I took the jump back in, got the ADX written done, then went down to Dallas and spent a couple weeks working on getting all the knowledge for the practical/oral portion. Proud to finally say that I now have an aircraft dispatcher certificate.
Definitely couldn't have done it without the wife motivating me to do it, and supporting me in leaving her for a bit to get it done. Looking forward to maybe seeing what new journeys could lie ahead!
