A question though... will you still get to fly as much as you have been? From what I understand, Captain is usually the last rank where you'll fly regularly in the Army. Is the Guard any different?

I'm a Battalion XO. Had to get the position prior to being promoted so been doing it a few months now.

CGSC is now called ILE - I have a few options of how to do it from distance learning to a shorter than Leavenworth residence course. Haven't decided.

A question though... will you still get to fly as much as you have been? From what I understand, Captain is usually the last rank where you'll fly regularly in the Army. Is the Guard any different?

The Guard (at least here) is a lot different. Since most pilots are part time traditional guardsmen, flight time is very equal across the board. Same with the full-timers, really. Full time, I'm a military technician (military uniform wearing GS employee) in charge of pilot training and flight operations so I'll continue to fly plenty.

Hopefully the CT ARNG isn't as royally screwed up as the AZ ARNG....

Well....since you asked. AZ ANG and ARNG are going to have a Pentagon IG team coming to unscrew them, by the Governor's orders. AG for Air fired, AG himself under investigation, and AG for Army under allegations.

National Guard has always been, on a whole, a good old boys club and inbreeding festival.

Everything from sexual harassment to whistleblowers being punished and fired, to.......and I can't make this one up......ARNG enlisted taking new recruits in government-cars out to South Phoenix and shooting homeless people with paintball guns...
