FBO Manager and FO

Hi,

First post here.

So basically, I've been offered a job managing the FBO I worked at during my flight training. There is also an opportunity to go SIC on the owners Citation.

I'm just wondering if anybody has combined two jobs like this in the past and how you did it. Most of the trips are either one or two day trips with the occasional longer one.

How'd you manage the two? With technology it should be easy to stay connected to the office while away. And there's competent people there when I'm gone.

I guess I'm just looking for tips or ideas on how to best combine both jobs as I've never done it before.

Thanks!

Not that this will help you, but the last two FBOs I've dealt with closely, the "manager" was a family member who needed a "job." Looked like a canine mascot could have done the job to me.

I've seen it work. In this particular instance the manager would coincidentally only be available for the sweet trips, usually only with owners that tipped. That was an odd coincidence. Other than that oddity it seemed to workout well. It did grate on those of us that flew the airplanes for a living. This guy would bring more luggage than the pax too. Don't be that guy! :ooh:

Thanks for your responding guys.

Haha this is not that type of managers job. Its a young operation with a couple of employees and may soon be expanding. Believe me the current manager (who's retiring, hence my taking over) is certainly not just in need of a job.

It sounds like you had a couple of pilots on the aircraft? There would only one crew so I wouldn't be taking anyone's hours. And definitely wouldn't bring too much luggage!

How did it work when he was away? When the current manager is away things go smoothly but I believe that is all down to who you have working for you.

Thanks again
