Fargo, ND area flight schools

ProudPilot might be able to help with this one - but others are welcome to jump in with your opinions!

As my old instructor is getting out of the biz, I am looking for a new place to get my ratings at.

The closest place right now is Fargo Jet Center in Fargo, ND. Anyone do training here? Any thoughts/opinions on the quality of training here? I am looking at their 141 Instrument course. Also open to any other options in the Fargo/Moorhead area.

Kind of pricey, but I highly recommend Sarah Staudt. She's at Fargo Jet and I can vouch for her skills. The aircraft are top notch, but they cost a bit more. I avoid Fargo Jet for my fuel needs now, but that's a personal thing. They treated my flight with less than professionalism one too many times.

Vic's Aircraft Sales is more like a sleepy town FBO. Good aircraft, but a lot of things deferred/ way out of date. CFI's are good, but I can't vouch for any personally. They all seem to know their stuff, but I haven't had a good sit down with any of them. Vic is a decent guy, but the business doesn't make money like it used to. As such, he has his grumpy days. However, he does do what he can to create a great environment, just older aircraft.

West Fargo skydive / club I hear is scary. There are some mx issues and some good people some not so much. Basically everyone that I know that has gone there has been unsatisfied with their experience.

Moorhead has a new FBO opening that is getting into flight training. I think they're using an older 2 seat grumman. Great guys to talk to, they are really dedicated, and very experienced. They've been doing mostly cargo flying, but the old heads were instructors for decades. The newer guys are excited about teaching again. I have no idea if training is available now, or how soon it will be. I know they were trying to get everyone online for scheduling and payments and a lower insurance premium. They would be more than happy to work some things out to get things up and running.

Best of luck to who you choose. As always, go and have a talk with them.

I thought Moorhead was out of the instruction game?

Vics...eh, kinda sketchy, lots of things sketchy that if you got ramped you would be screwed

Could not find anything on the new FBO at Moorhead. Would love to meet with them and get more information!

Thanks for the heads up on Vic's!
