Farewell portrait of 777FF

Pays to fly
With our hydroplaning accident at CDW last year that totaled my partner's 421 (doesn't take much damage to total a 1970 421B!) I thought my partner, Andy, deserved something to remember her by. He had her for many years and many uneventful hours in the air.

Sadly, I only had one "good" (sort of) photo of her on the rainy ramp at CRE on our way down to Florida in 2008.

Oh well, it will have to do, and about 8 hours in Photoshop later...

While I was at it I had some fun with the 210 too:

I had them enlarged to 16 x 20" - gorgeous!

Nice photoshop. I remember seeing them take it apart and take it away. Was a nice looking plane.

Thanks, Nick

Ah! You saw them do it! I'm sort of glad we did not. Yeah, I heard they removed the wings, obviously, otherwise I doubt she will ever fly again.

I'll tell ya' though, that '70 421 was perhaps one of the best out there. He spared nothing on MX, almost to the point of the absurd.

My partner got the phone call about the salvage, and he ended by saying to me "the space is now empty". However, we then parked the 210 there and have no regrets.

The 421 pic is the same in both????

How did you get the door handle on there?

Absolutely the same photo, except:

I took the door handle from another photo I had of it, although I could have painted it in (not a big deal to do).

The cabin windows came from a 421C photo that I found on the Internet (I just did not need to use all of them, as the early B model has one less window).

Otherwise, same photo. Download 'em, line 'em up in a paint program and you will see.

Wasn't easy with the 421, but for my friend it was worth the effort.

Thanks all for the kind remarks.

That'cool. I don't know anything about photoshop as to how you could do small details like that. Nicely done.
