Family Kicked off Plane after Girl Throws Temper Tantrum

Julie and Gerry Kulesza and daughter Elly were removed from the flight when the girl refused to take her seat before takeoff, airline officials said Tuesday. But her parents said they just needed a little more time to calm her down.


The Kuleszas planned to fly home to Boston on Jan. 14 from Fort Myers after a four-day visit with the girl's paternal grandparents. She was removed because "she was climbing under the seat and hitting the parents and wouldn't get in her seat" during boarding, AirTran spokeswoman Judy Graham-Weaver said.


Now there's a kid that needed a spanking. And some duct tape.


Duct tape solves all. A little duct tape over her mouth, a little duct tape to tape her to the seat, and the plane takes off on time and no fuss, no muss.:)
 
I wonder how that made the news. People get bounced from the aircraft now and then.
 
Ahh!

But if the girl wouldn't sit in her seat and follow safety instructions of a on duty crewmember, they probably don't have much of a choice.

Might be a good time to introduce their daughter to the inconvenience of misbehavior! :)
 
You would be amazed at the parents who think that the rules are just suggestions, and don't apply to them or their kids.

Parents would tell me, "well, she just won't sit...." Expecting me to let it go and let the kid stand there on the seat while we taxi out! No way! It made me want to ask, "Who's the parent here? Who's in charge? Cause it sure as heck isn't YOU!"

I see that commuting 24/7.

I'm on another airline commuting to DFW, the plane is is moderate turbulence and the flight attendant is on the PA pleading that the passenger strap in their child, but they pretty much ignored the request.

Sadly, the child ends up going airborne for a period of time and lands firmly on the floor. It didn't hurt the child, but the passenger started screaming about how she was going to sue (large Irving, TX-based airline) and yadda yadda yadda.

Kind of like carryone baggage rules. Everyone thinks they apply to everyone else but them.

If they sue, I bet they'll argue that the FA phoned the flight deck and asked the pilots to "create" some turbulence. Stupid people.
 
If I were AirTran, I'd have been a hard ass and said, nope, we're not refunding your money. We put you on the plane, we had you ready to go, we complied with the terms of carriage, and it was YOU who screwed up.

I like how he said "we're never flying AirTran again." If I were the AirTran PR person, I'd have said, "good riddance."

Hell, SWA does it.

haven't you seen the post? they're trying to outlaw that in some states!

this is a prime example of where something like that might actually be useful in an attitude correction... ;)
 
I am in a psychology class right now and the prof, and many of the students, frequently voice their opinions about how we need to "outlaw spankings" and the such. I think that is the biggest load of hogwash I have ever heard. We had to do a group assignment about corporal punishment and I must say, there is nothing like a little know-it-all, frat girl, ex-high-school-class president giving you a lecture about the "poor little kids" and the "violence and pain I would inflict upon them". I grew up in quite a conservative and traditional family, but it was a family overflowing with love and compassion. Even though, was I spanked? Absoltuely. Did I think it hurt? Absolutely. Do I think it made me learn a LOT? Absolutely. Nothing like mom saying "If you don't want to listen to me, I'm gonna talk to dad when he gets home!" That straightened us out for sure. Heck, those are even GOOD memories now! I am definately pro-spanking.
 
Joel I agree with you 100%. I had Psych classes that talked about spankings and all of that.

There should be a line drawn between physical abuse and spanking. There are some parents that would beat their children for everything.

:rotfl: Duct tape is a man's best friend.

I hear they're trying to outlaw spanking in some states. I'll reserve comment on that one. What else would have calmed the girl down? I'd love to hear suggestions.

And who took the blame? Not the girl...the parents. "Everybody out!!"
