Failing a CAE/Simuflite checkride

If you "unsat" I imagine they would retrain that specific maneuver on spot and continue? What say the instructors?

If the FAA is on board it is fair game, well it is always fair game. CAE is easier than FSI that's for sure. If it is an initial type application, there is no retraining during the ride. You can continue the ride to finish the rest of the stuff but it will be an unsat checkride. Recurrent you can retrain during the ride. Yes I have heard of people failing. On the LRJET side of things, language barriers were 90% of the failures during the oral.

There were some Puerto Rican guys in my 350 initial who failed. Language barrier and first turbine aircraft wasn't a good combo.

Suspend and retrain is a nice agreement companies have with the FAA. I've heard of people failing at CAE but they are FEW and far between.

This.

Type checks are extensive and thorough. That said, most people pass as they will generally not send someone into the type ride if they think they won't pass. On a type check, just don't go below mins on an approach, bust an altitude, etc and you'll likely be fine. Nobody flies a perfect checkride, and they aren't looking for that. Just fly to ATP standards and show them that you know the airplane and can operate it safely in all situations. Instructors are human and they need to feel comfortable with you operating the airplane. You will do fine.

The instructor cadre at CAE works very hard to help everyone meet the checkride requirements. Some people still don't make the cut.

You'll be just fine. These part 142 centers are more about getting you through the course than they are about busting your chops.

Know your limitations, memory items and profiles: Ask questions and be curious, you'll be just fine.
