Just got this in the mail today. Holy turkeyfeathers!

I just did a wings sign-on today I thought I was signing my life away. Is a BFR really that tough to accomplish?

Are you like a level 30 wings master aloft?

Tough to accomplish? No. More expensive? Yeah.

The FAA grants a boatload of credits toward the Wings program for the checkrides I undergo annually for CAP; the annual standardization check conducted to commercial/instrument standards and the Mission Pilot check together knock out all but two of the knowledge credits for both basic and advanced levels, leaving only two online courses left to do (I did the FAA ADM and takeoffs and landings ones). The Air Force paid for both of those checkrides, so my BFR cost me nothing but my time.

The new Wings program has only three levels now (basic, advanced and master) so no level 30 for me.

Wasn't trying to bust your balls man. In your case I can see why you do it In others I don't.

For some I think its just something to work towards. I'm the type of person who likes to be working towards a goal. And I fall into Aloft area where CAP covers my BFR time as well when doing form 5 checkrides etc.

One of the advantages is that it is documented in the FAA's computer. So, no matter what happens to your logbook, you have proof that you were current as far as FAR 61.56 goes.

Another advantage is that should you find yourself in trouble (and we all hope that doesn't happen), the fact you participated in the WINGS program is considered as indicating a positive attitude towards safety and that is an element in determining an enforcement.
