FAA To Improve Runway Safety

I don't think these "crossing lights" are really going to help anything. Its not like we aren't aware that taxiing across an active runway is a bad thing. I would venture a guess that those involved in most runway incursions aren't even aware they're pulling onto an active runway. Maybe more lights to signify that you ARE near a runway, but the whole "red means stop, green means go" is probably a waste of money.

I love how the FAA tries to solve a FATIGUE problem with hardware. Pilots are not stupid, they're exhausted. Fix the duty regs, fix the problem.

Exactly. Sounds like just another distraction if you ask me.

They have them in DFW. They really don't do much for me. Unless I hear those magical words from Tower/Ground (Sometimes I verifiy it a couple of times)I aint going nowhere. I don't care what color those lights are.
