I took the At-SAT yesterday (April 7,2014) and was the first batch of the new FAA public selection from. The test was located in Bloomingdale, IL. for me, due to it being the closest to my home here in MI.
I got there at 7:15am (told to arrive at 7:30am) and was told to wait until 7:45am to go into the testing room. Our group was then told to wait until 8:30 due to technical problems, then 9:00am, then 10:00am, then 11:00am, then then was told if the system wasn't running by 2:30pm we would either have to take it tomorrow at 2:30pm or reschedule. The system ended up working and we started the test at 3:30pm.
As for the test (At-SAT) itself, so long as you are well prepared you will do great!
I used www.atc-sat.com: which is $30
- The angles section during the test is a lot easier then the practice tests given via this site
- The dial reading section is pretty straight forward, just make sure you study the dial (they will try and trick you by putting other options like 2.0 instead of the true answer being 20)
- The math section i was really prepared for due to the practice scenarios given by the website; also print off a copy of StuckMIC.com practice test, and study the math from there as well.
- The letter factory portion was straight forward as well, the website prepares you for it. There are a few differences in the test so make sure you read the direction but overall you are prepared.
- The ATC scan you are well prepared for, just make sure to constantly scan the bottom changing "range" of numbers. If you can memorize the numbers on the keyboard at the bottom right it is extremely helpful.
- The ATC scenario is fairly straight forward, the website prepares you for it (I also used JeremyJustice game to help as well).
- The analogy part is difficult. Really study up on this section and look at all the words given to you, instead of just skimming through them. It is designed to trick you, and it is tricky.
They give you an accumulative time of 7 hours to take the test, which is more then enough time to take it so do not stress. Remember if you mess something up to remain calm keep plugging away at the test. Some portions are timed so you cannot dread over it, and of course remember to ALWAYS read the DIRECTIONS!
Hope this helped everyone,
I will be getting my results in 7-9 business day
