FAA ORDERS FLIGHTS CUT AT O'HARE *DELETED*

Re: FAA ORDERS FLIGHTS CUT AT O\'HARE

A) this is posted already /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

B) The government can regulate private industry .. and the airline specifically. In part because airlines fall under the Railroad Labor Act and various other federal regulations. And it's not a bad thing ... airlines have a nasty habit of pulling this crap (scheduling too many flights in too few of airports all during the same time period)... besides the FAA/DOT is giving airlines a chance to fix it themselves .. if they don't then they'll step in and force 'em to do it.

Similar thing happened at LGA a few years ago.

You can only pack 10-lbs of sugar into a 5-lb bag for only so long.

Re: FAA ORDERS FLIGHTS CUT AT O\'HARE

Cut throat or not really has nothing to do with it ... the airline management/schedulers are crippling O'hare ... if they don't fix it themselves the government (who owns O'hare, mind you) will (or says it will). Nothing unfair about it.

Re: FAA ORDERS FLIGHTS CUT AT O\'HARE

You need to educate yourself on the industry, dude. The players may be privately held companies, but the industry itself ain't private. Your taxicab analogy couldn't be further off the mark.

The FAA should just lower the number of operation authorizations per hour and that'll be that.

It's what Chicago deserves for closing Meigs.

Re: FAA ORDERS FLIGHTS CUT AT O\'HARE

I thought the report on CNBC today was filled with local politician hilarity: "We need the government to build a reliever airport NOW!"

Umm, Midway?

Err, Meigs for GA traffic?

Milwaukee? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Politicians are comical.

Can they regulate how many cabs are in the city here in NY! NO! they cant ...

YES, they can (and do in many places). Aviation is one of the most heavily regulated industries in the country. If you don't like that, ya might wanna consider another industry.

Actually in NYC, they do regualte how many cabs there are on the streets. Infact this year they only alloted 300 new medallions. Plus the TLC (Taxi and Limosine Commision) also regualted how many town-car type of limos there are on the streets.

Say what you will about the gov't controlling these things, if they have jurisdictional control over the airport they can do what they wish.

Dude....chill out. Just because someone called you on what you thought was the truth doesn't mean you have to stomp out of here in a huff and delete everything. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/insane.gif
