FAA must be slow...

I just received my plastic less than 2 weeks after taking my checkride.

Not many people must be taking checkrides :)

I think somebody else on the board had that quick of turn around as well.

OH NOOOO! hurry everyone get your commercial ticket now. . .

Has anyone ever been curious as too the ability to "fake" a pilot license? I mean as far as fake ID's go, a pilot license is about as easy as they come. I don't even think there is a hologram on those bad boys. I haven't quite figured out why someone would fake one, but I still find it intriguing that they don't even require a photo.

I think a lot of it deals with where you are. I took my initial commercial single ride in the middle of August, in Kansas City. I got the plastic 2 weeks later. Fast forward 2 months, and I took the commercial multi ride in the end of September, in Florida, and didn't get my plastic until the very end of October. In any case, not bad, only a month at the longest.

I think your right, government usually isn't this quick, (23 years in gov't talkin)

I passed an instrument checkride in August, had the temporary in my pocket less than 3 weeks. Planned a flying trip for Labor Day to Idaho, the shiny plastic arrived just before the weekend.

It might be harder than you think. Good luck getting all that little text that make up the pictures of the airplanes and the Wright Brothers to come out. :D I was quite impressed when I could read most of it unaided...that should be the new FAA vision testing standard...you can read that=automatic pass

I got you guys beat. I renewed my CFI on the 13th and when I got home from a trip on the 21st, the perm was waiting for me in the mail pile. One problem though...it expires at the end of this month!

Doheth!

Over three weeks now and I still haven't gotten my new certificate with my LR-JET type on it.

Then again, I don't believe the sim houses use IACRA.

It is easier than you might think, vector graphics. What is cooler IMO is that a picture designed like that could be expanded to the size of a poster and not look pixilated. Basically, a picture is drawn and mathematical formulas handle the relationships of objects within the picture. Thus, when it is expanded or contracted, the picture is redrawn with those formulas, keeping it crisp and clean at any size.

Compare it to some drivers license, I know New Jersey has 26 points of verification on its license. Compared to the FAA certification it would be equivalent to robbing a convenience store instead of a bank. Still a big step from the paper tickets though. I always was curious why you couldn't laminate them, I think the FAA liked having to make new copies, made them feel important.

PO: My CFI cert, April of last year, took 5 weeks.

You're right about vector graphics, but the issue still lies in the ability of your printer to print them out that small, since printers don't print in vectors, they print in dots per inch, which is just like pixels in rasterized "normal" graphics.

I kept having to call in and complain about my VA benefits taking so long to process. One dude said to me, "It's the govt, what do you expect?"
I was pretty pissed about that one.

Well I just took a type ride last week and hope to get the new one pretty quick. I have been told that the FAA has switch to a new computer system that speeds up their processing time.

Go ahead and try and fake it and see how far you get. There is more security in them than you think. Just remember get caught and you are dealing with Federal charges. Besides what is it going to get you...Not much...
