This place is pretty cool. I was able to find SIX people on my dad's side of the family who hold pilot licenses. All of them are direct relatives. I have a second cousin who is a corporate pilot and flys King Airs and Citation Jets for a charter company. My grandfather held a Commercial rating (he was a fighter pilot trainer in the Army Air Force in the 1940's), my father held CFI, CFII, MEI, and ATP. All the others hold Commercial ratings except one who only holds a PPL.

Anyone else here have a lot of pilots in their families? Some day I will have the ATP, and now my brother is planning on starting his PPL.

Thanks for the link, gonna go look some people up. BTW, in the 1940s it was Army Air Corps.

That stuff is kinda disturbing, you can look up a pilot by name and their home address is there for anybody who wants it?!? Does this bother anyone else?

Yeas it does. They really should at least block the adress and the personal information and leave just the medical and the aviation-related info. BTW, I tried to look up Doug and he's not there.

Because I told the FAA to remove the information!

how'd you do that? My 3rd class has been expired for like 2 years but yet I'm still on there!

I will probably tell them to not even add me to the database then.

That is so overzealous fans can not find out his info.

No reason beyond my selfish need for privacy. No reason that since I'm a certificated pilot that my automagically volunteer for a government entity to release my data to the world.

Yeah, I think they should remove the contact information as that can be a fun opportunity for annoying telemarketers hired by aviation supply companies. My dad's information pulls up my mom's home address (my parents later divorced).

Anyone can look up any information on anyone - i.e., if you own a house, public records information will reveal ownership info, mortgage amount, etc... This information is free for public use at any tax assessor office too. Many states have non-disclosure laws which prohibit the publishing of such private information.

That's a cool site. They're horrendously out of date on mine though. Still says I have private privileges in single engine aircraft.

Sometimes they take forever to update that crap....Usually, if you have the permanent cert it'll be up to daye. If not, you might wanna give them a call!!

I just had my 1st class done last week and it has already been updated. I was actually pretty surprised by that.

Hey lruppert, would you mind telling me how the 1st class medical works? When I go to the ME to get my medical will he give me a 1st, 2nd, 3rd based on what I need it for or based on my health? Like if I needed one for a solo even if I just needed a 3rd class could he give me a 1st class?

Thanks

Neither Bill nor I are in the airman registry, we asked to be removed over a year ago.

We did it for the same reason we have an unlisted home phone number.

when you go to the ME you will ask for a specific medical; 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. Each one is different.

Keep in mind however that a 1st class medical is more expensive than a 2nd class medical which is more expensive than a 3rd class medical!

Except for a Doc in Bristol, RI. $75 for all three. As a matter of fact, I had a 2nd last year that cost more than this year's 1st because he had some lab do the urinalysis, and that was $15 extra.

Brian,
When you go to the AME you have to request what class medical you want. A first class is more expensive than a second or third class. Remember that you also have to request a student certificate. The student certificate is only valid for 24 months.
