Position Description


This position is located in Kuwait and provides Contractor Instructor Services to the Kuwait Air Force (KAF) as part of a Foreign Military Sales contract. Provides academic, simulator, and flight instruction to KAF pilots in KAF F/A-18 aircraft. Conducts familiarization, qualification, upgrade, standardization, flight, and ground instruction in support of KAF courses ranging from CAT I to advanced training, including air-to-air gunnery, day/night in-flight refueling, and day/night low level training. Maintains aircrew training materials and courseware. Assists the KAF operations and training staff in development of aircrew instruction philosophy and syllabi, evaluation criteria, and approaches for standardizing training materials, delivery, and training standards. Establishes qualifications and training standards. Primary training site is at Ahmed Al Jaber Air Base in Kuwait. Deploys to other sites in and out of Kuwait at KAF discretion to support training operations. Accompanies senior KAF representatives to international F/A-18 related conferences at KAF discretion. International travel may be required to attend NATOPs and safety related conferences on behalf of the KAF. Job requires completion of appropriate KAF F/A-18 requalification training if not current in the aircraft, and graduation from the KAF Instructor Under Training syllabus. Job requires compliance with NATOPs 3710.7U standards including recurring swim physiology and hypoxia training. Positions are contingent on contract award.

Complete knowledge of airplane components, systems and terminology at a GenFam level.

Complete knowledge and ability to use standard crew resource management, weight and balance calculations, navigation procedures, airspace, meteorology, aircraft performance data, communication operations, flight planning, industry regulations and pilot aviation skills to perform aircraft operations.

Intermediate knowledge of flight instruction techniques (e.g., analysis of student errors, planning of instructional periods, assessment of progress, laws of learning) for aircraft. The ability to comprehend and communicate program related operational requirements.

Basic Qualifications For Consideration

Do you have experience as a U.S. Navy or USMC F/A-18 NATOPS pilot?

Do you have experience flying F/A-18 aircraft within the last 2 years?

Do you have at least 1000 hours in the F/A-18 and do you have experience as a Division Lead?

Do you meet F/A-18 NATOPS/ OPNAVINST 3710.7U (section 8.3.2.18) Anthropometric Requirements for duty in an ejection seat aircraft?



Typical Education/Experience


Technical bachelor’s degree and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or a Master’s degree with typically 3 or more years’ or a PhD degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A technical degree is defined as any four year degree, or greater, in a mathematic, scientific or information technology field of study.




Other Job related information


This position requires previous experience as a US Navy or US Marine Corps F/A-18 pilot; applicants without F/A-18 experience will not be considered. F/A-18 Fleet Replacement Squadron Instructor Pilot preferred. Must have experience flying F/A-18 aircraft within the last 2 years, at least 1000 hours in the F/A-18, and have experience as a Division Lead. Advanced schools, Top Gun, Weapons and Tactics Instructor, Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System Instructor preferred. F/A-18 E/F experience preferred. Previous military supervisory experience preferred. SECRET clearance required. TOP SECRET clearance preferred. Positions are contingent on contract award.
