It's not really worth anything unless you wanna see all the pre-ride training and stuff. I just wanted to skip to where the fuel started the burn!

I always wondered how the F-16 got nickname 'Viper'. Near as I can figure, it's for this reason.
The F-16 entered service about the time the original 'Battlestar Galactica' series was popular on TV.
Thoughts?

Viper was wanted as the official name by the pilot, but the name was a copyright from the show. Fighting Falcon, the official name, is used about as much as Thunderbolt II is used for the A-10. Plus, being an OTS officer, I could care less for the USAFA mascot.

Ha! That's hilarious. That was a WAG on my part, and I've actually read up a bit on the F-16. At one point there was even a movement to call it the 'Condor'.
