Extra Captains position opening at YX

While the PIC would probably be better off requesting the passengers send a complaint internally to the airline vs. twitter, I don't think the captain is going to be looking for a new gig for refusing to move the jet until they have adequate drinking water.

Not sure why anyone would launch without at least having enough bottled water appropriate for the length of the flight.

Missing catering, not the usual amount of peanuts, half-stocked liquor tray, whatever. But if people can't have some water to drink then nobody should be going anywhere until that's on board.

If they'd blocked out with no water and hit a delay...well...I don't think that would have gone over well either.

I delayed a flight for 90 mins over potable water because, by virtue of the way the MEL was written, I needed if.

Ramp tower said that they put extra bottled on the airplane and didn't understand that it was a mechanical/legal issue.

I'm sure he went to the bar that night and bitched about hat arrogant pilot that delayed a flight over water.

And technically, Twitter is highly effective at some companies.

I think we have a social media team of 30 here at SouthernJets. May be more.

As a gate agent I've seen flights delayed for water. Ops would call and say something like "New York want's to know why we haven't left yet", and of course gate gourmet was no where to be found.

I'd say it's less this...

The butthurt is strong with this one.

and more this...

Delay a flight over crew or passenger water? Absolutely! Tell my passengers to get on twitter and say I'm going crazy over it? That's probably the last thing I'm going to tell them to do. A simple, "folks, we're delayed due to bottled water not being loaded on the aircraft for you and us crew. Please be patient as we work this out." Also, it's not really a good idea to throw another employee group under the bus. At least not in front of passengers. But who knows what in the article was actually true.
