Job Description:
Plans and conducts ground/flight tests of experimental, prototype, and production aircraft. Executes all maneuvers required to determine flight/system characteristics, aircraft performance, and structural integrity of the vehicle. Conducts fam, demo, training, and delivery flts. Coordinates test procedures, techniques, and demo methods with foreign and domestic military or regulatory agencies. Documents comprehensive flight test results. Evaluates data, prepares reports, and provides recommendations regarding operational techniques, aircraft handling characteristics, systems operations, and design improvements. Analyzes aircraft/system perf, aircraft handling qualities, and operability. Provides leadership to support personnel working within established program budgets while adhering to quality, cost, and schedule. Determines flt operations input about eng. changes that affect aircraft configuration. Works directly with eng org during development of new aircraft models to assure appropriate design/mechanization for aircrew operated systems. Applies advanced knowledge and management experience to develop complex test and acceptance activities. Collaborates with company Pgm Mgrs on marketing, eval, delivery, and demo activities for domestic and intl aircraft customers. Primary contact for aircraft operations customers. Approves test plans, test work descriptions, and test information sheets. Consultant to Sr. Mgmt and other industry professionals.
Job Skills & Qualifications:
Requires a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) or a commercial pilot's license and appropriate category endorsements, such as Single or Multi-Engine Land (SMEL) Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). Requires graduation from a military test pilot school, or meets waiver criteria set forth in applicable government documents such as Defense Logistics Agency Manual 8210.1. Requires a minimum of 1,500 hours first pilot flight time in tactical jet aircraft, passing a comprehensive flight physical and pilot performance screening. Currency and or recent operational experience in F/A-15E aircraft is highly desireable. Prior developmental test experience in F-15 aircraft is essential. Requires 8 to 10 years company or related industrial experience in addition to job family entry requirements.
Education:
Requires an engineering degree or equivalent education and experience. An advanced degree is highly desirable.
Additional Comments:
Secret security clearance required to start work. Applicants must be capable of obtaining a Top Secret security clearance in the immediate future upon hire. This position will require frequent and, at times extended, travel domestic and foreign travel.
