enlisted veterans who are now pilots

Just curious, is anyone on here a prior enlisted veteran who is now an airline pilot?

If so, what flight school(s) did you attend?

There's some hard-charging Marine around here who was Captain of the Flight Team at some podunk college in Tennessee who could probably give you some good advice. He even has affectations of being a "hard drinker" when he's not busy perming his hair in the vanity mirror of the guppy-killer. I know a number of others out there. Generally, it seems that they were doomed to 141 programs due to GI-Bill issues.

Four Years Navy as an Aviation Electronics Technician. Afterwards went to the FBO for my PVT and Instrument, then Middle Tennessee State University for everything else.

First 4 years in AD AF (C-5 Crew Chief) and last 9 1/2 in WIANG (KC-135 Crew Chief).

First went to a Part 91 school in WI when I was 16. Finished my Private/Inst/SEComm at Aero Club DAFB. Got my multi at ATP. Went back to first Part 91 school and got my CFI.

10 years in the Navy. I'll let you guess what I did. ;) However, I am now on year 13 in the reserves.

I did my private in Hawaii while still in the Navy under pt61 (out of a hangar = best rate). After I seperated, I went to a pt141 because of the GI Bill and trained in CA because of the year-round weather.

Are you wanting to know something or just polling?

The next question will be how many enlisted turn pilot have slept with a FA's younger sister while on an overnight.

Have any of you guys considered going back into the military to fly?

Yes, on the long and slow road of doing jut that. Thanks to the GI Bill, which paid for about 20k of my flight training, the other 29k was out of pocket, I'm also completing my undergrad degree here in two months with no out of pocket expense. Actually will end up with 3k additional sitting in my savings.

I applied to OTS back in 2004 and had a very competitive package (99% score on BAT, 3.9GPA, etc) but the board's admin department misplaced my package so I was never looked at. The next rated board wasn't for another 6 months and due to pending orders with the Navy I couldn't wait that long. Later I decided just to go at it the civilian route. I think I made the right choice for me. I like having a little control of my life.

haha, well played.

I would have had about 7k left over, but I've been making small purchases here and there over the past year. Like yourself, such as a new computer, playstation 3, home theater set up.

The last three will most likely sit in my savings until summer or fall, when - if I have to - reinvest in GA flying to get current and do a IPC/BFR next year.
