Im sure everyone saw the coverage of Emirates the last few days and there huge deal buying a/c ... so with a little bit of interest developed i went to their website :

to go straight into the left seat ....

A minimum of 10,000 hours total flying time
A minimum of 3,000 hours in command of multi-crew, multi-engine jet aircraft in excess of 55,000 KGS MTOW
Preference for short listing will be given to A340/A330 rated pilots and those with wide body experience. A background in training would also be advantageous.
ICAO ATPL
Applicants must be less than 56 years on joining
English language fluency (written and verbal comprehension)
Experience commensurate with age

Straight into the right seat ....

A minimum of 4000 hours total flying time
A minimum of 2000 hours multi-crew, multi-engined jet aircraft experience
ICAO ATPL
Applicants must be less than 49 years on joining
English language fluency (written and verbal comprehension)
Experience commensurate with age
Type rated would be advantageous

there Captain Pay is $7826.86!!!!

Now for the kicker....there annual Captain Pay is $7826.86!!!!

which breaks down to $652 a month...this is tax free and you get one free ticket home per year

-Seth

The $7826.86 is probably their monthly pay, in addition to other perks. We have one member that currently is a pilot for Emirates, he will probably respond when he sees Emirates in the Subject.

im gonna grab the link so everyone can see....but it says

"monthly pay is 28650 dirhams (1 usd = 3.66 dirs)....." <---corrected to monthly

the math equals out too $7826 a month

its in frames so i will copy/paste it:

No, it doesn't. Read your quote, it clearly says "monthly"!

A CX pilot told me last year that Emirate was parking planes because they didnt have enough crews. Has anyone else heard this?

well on the opposite then.... $93,000 annually plus they pretty much pay for everythng else...interest free car loan....lots of vacation time...good deal. I dont know about living in Dubai...

-Seth

Emirates would be my first choice if I went to work for an overseas carrier. Heck, it would be my first job after my current one, possibly!

I'd live in dubai in a heartbeat. Especially at that pay.

Mpenguin is right, the title caught my attention. There is a thread on FI regarding sim instructors in Seattle that needs your input Mike. It's in the second general section.

The pay is as advertised, but one needs to look a little deeper to make any meaningful comparison with U.S. salaries. The total value of any compensation package is: " how much of the salary I get to keep ". I.E., how much goes for taxes ?, how much goes for housing ?, how much goes for utilities ?, how much goes for all the little things in life ?

Ignoring State taxes for a moment, how much would you have to make in the USA to have a take home pay of $7826 ? In a 28% tax bracket the answer is $10,869. So the tax free status starts to look a lot better. Now lets consider that there are a few adddtional components to the package. First is that Emirates puts another 12% into a retirement fund for you. That is another $939 per month. Then we have the free housing and utilities or an option to take another $2500 per month to go buy or rent your own house. Add in that Emirates also pays for your utilties and drives you to and from work so you only need one car and it just keeps getting better.

I've written a lot about how to look for the bottom line over on Airline Pilot Central, especially in regards to foreign contracts. One job that pays $8000 per month can be very different than another. Always look to how much goes in your pocket when all is said and done. In my case, almost all of the $7826 goes staight into my bank account.

Oh, and no airplanes parked against the fence yet. Airline is making money hand over fist.

TP

P.S. I forgot about the annual bonus, 4 weeks last year.

yea well all's i heard about it was from my grandfather when he visited the area back in 1990-1991. Im sure it would be better now.

My first response would be to go for it, but my first question would be... Why are they so desperate (or are they?) What is the catch? There's always a catch... Sounds extremely tempting, about as tempting as that KBR job offer I got, but there was a catch.:banghead:

Erik (formerly "planenut").

you think they're desperate?
4000TT for a FO seems like a bunch to me, maybe because I don't have it :)

Beleive me when I say they will not even look at you without any heavy time. They don't even know what the words Regional Jet means over there. You can forget applying with anything less than B737 time in your logbook.
