Wow I did not know they had a crew base in BUF.

Chautauqua Airlines must be concerned that once they get trained on the EMB170, they are going to run for Jetblue once they get their EMB190's up to speed.

I think once you're on the Emb-190 at JBLU, you're there for a LOOOOOONG time with no chance of upgrade to the A320's for an ungodly amount of time.

Perhaps just rumor.

Wonder what they'll be paying these guys? Hopefully something that appears to raise the bar, rather then lower it.

If you're referring to the CHQ 170 payscales, they're already on the books. FOs make the same as on the 145 family ($21.52 first year, $28.96 year two, in to the 30s for years 3-4), and the Captains have a separate scale for the 170. Don't have those numbers in front of me right now, though.

Yes, CHQ has 10 crew bases including BUF. CMH, MCO, STL, and IND are the largest bases, the rest are somewhat smaller. Currently the only EMB-170 base is IND, don't know where else they will base those eventually but the rumor mill is always churning.

The two-year training agreement has been standard at CHQ for some time now and is not new or unique to the 170. People that are leaving here have been around 5-7 years and are going mostly to Southwest and JetBlue.

Nah, was actually referring to the MidAtlantic and jetBlue (190) scales. Hadn't heard of CHQ's until now.

Why not higher pay on the FO side? A lot like Mesaba. 69 seat Avro and a 30 seat Saab share the same FO rate.

I hope, with NWA, AA, and others looking into 70-100 jets, they understand these aren't RJs, they're mainlin aircraft, which should be flown by mainline guys, at mainline rates.

A 70-100 seat "RJ" at NWA is a DC-9, flown by mainline, paid at a mainline level.

Come on people! Down with a RJDC I say. Regional guys deserve better.

Go to www.airlinepilotpay.com you'll see the pay scales for a few airlines there

FL270: any idea as to why the ad is for E170 FOs, instead of just FOs? Think they're trying to dress-up the job offer?

Saw the pic of the first one on a.net. Sharp looking bird. Hopefully you have better luck than MidAtlantic getting the bugs worked out.

Yeah, Bog ... I do think they're just trying to dress up the ad, though most of the hiring at this point is probably to the 170. I do keep moving up the 145 list at a pretty good clip, though.

I'm optimistic about our EMB-170 program. We've got great mechanics and we're already Embraer's third largest customer worldwide so I've got to believe they'll be there for us on product support. Should go pretty well, hopefully.

What's the 170, bout a 120K+ lb. airplane? Somewhere around there I think. And they're paying the same as an RJ,,,,,right?

It's only a 70-seater, and probably nowhere near that heavy. The CRJ-900 maxes out at 82,500. Yes, the payrates suck, but they're already written and cannot be changed. All we can home is that next time around, the pilots of Mesa and Chautauqua do not have to fight against alter-ego carriers during contract negotiations. Remove that roadblock and you should see wages come up.

Better yet, maybe one day all these aircraft will return to mainline carriers ala jetBlue. We can only hope.
