If I get an IPad and jeppview, do I need to have an entire paper backup? Also, What other products support jeppview? I'm not that crazy about Mac products. Thanks

What kind of flying are you doing?

91, not sure but I don't think so.

135, your certificate holder has to be approved for it. During the approval process, you'll have to have both iPads and paper charts. After a certain amount of time (~6 mos.), you can lose the paper charts and be iPad only. My employer was the second 135 cert holder in the country to do so.

No legal requirement to even have charts for Part 91. Wise, yes. Required, no. Even with all the fancy programs for iPad, tablet PCs, etc, I'd still recommend paper enroute charts.

We don't carry a single paper chart on our airplanes. Two iPads works just fine. It's awesome.
