Happy new year. Looks like they put a new posting up 1mo after the old one. Like previous post, opr as Eastern Air Express
You could do a lot worse than eastern.Idk if anyone else here is gonna be coming along, but I accepted an offer here. I like KCMO and I want experience ASAP. I thought about waiting for SkyWest as they’re doing reference checks right now and I just got done with their knowledge check, but the more I considered it the more I realized I’d like this one more. Pay is fine for the city, a lot of history/culture, and there seems to be decent potential for long term with them though you never fully know with airlines.
Worst come I’ll have the experience to apply elsewhere in the future with actual dispatch experience under my belt.
I have to admit a large part of me is just curious as to how the company develops further and I want a front row seat. You could do a lot worse than eastern.
I worked at Eastern before, during and after the transition to Kansas City. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for meaningful experience. Training is inadequate, flights are infrequent, and there’s often nothing to do. Sit at your desk all day bored.
The company is unstable, has low standards, and is plagued by favoritism. It’s hard to know how they’re still operating and functioning. If you’re considering it, you’re better off holding out for a regional airline. Most dispatchers, past and present, would likely agree it’s not worth it.
Damn that sucks to hear, I’ve been in search for my first gig for 4 months so I figured I would just take what I could get.I worked at Eastern before, during and after the transition to Kansas City. LOLOLI worked there as well when they were still in PA. I always told everyone I worked with that they could survive because it was a money laundering operation.
For what it’s worth I know for sure of one person here at AA who came from Eastern, and I’m pretty sure there’s a couple others at AA as well. So they do go onto legacies. That being said, I wouldn’t have passed up SkyWest for Eastern as someone else mentioned since all majors hire from SkyWest and they have excellent training. But I also wouldn’t pass up Eastern for zero job offer either. I’d take it until something better comes along. Hiring is happening less often and getting harder these days. Unless you have multiple offers, if it’s a 121 I’d take it.Damn that sucks to hear, I’ve been in search for my first gig for 4 months so I figured I would just take what I could get.
Im the guy that mentioned SkyWest lol. Its not that I’ve passed them up, they seem to still be reviewing things and I don’t want to wait to get my feet wet when its not a sure thing I’ll make it aboard. Just wanna go where ever makes that first offer to build from there. For what it’s worth I know for sure of one person here at AA who came from Eastern, and I’m pretty sure there’s a couple others at AA as well. Run while you can. Envoy is a much safer option than Eastern.Just finished my first week at Eastern and got an offer from Envoy, safe to say I’d be a moron not to take it. Eastern is a very unique place to say the least lol.

go to Eastern, at the least, RUN to SkyWest if they give you the call. I know several dispatchers who have left a company during training simply because they did not like the culture/management/or just saw the writing on the wall. SkyWest has one of the best training programs in the regionals, and they are considered one of the gold standards when you apply at a major. I have worked at several 121 Supplemental outfits prior to coming to my current carrier, and I wouldn't touch Eastern with a 5-foot pole - especially if I have an opportunity at another carrier. Same situation happened to me when I first got into the biz 15+ years ago. I went with the regional I wanted and thanked the others for the opportunity.Im the guy that mentioned SkyWest lol.
