Earnhardt Jr. Selling E145

RCR I believe owns their own planes... one of those NASCAR owners has quite the fleet, i just can't remember which one... he has a few Premiers and a 727. I think it is Jack Rousche.

RCR leases an E145 from Express Jet. It is parked at the old terminal building at INT. I see it every other week when we fly in there.

Kenseth is getting rid of the mooney; I saw it advertised somewhere as getting to own his aircraft. I doubt a buyer will pay any kind of premium for that "privilege".

All of these teams will be contracting out now...

The new rule FAR 125.509 now requires any "air transport" category aircraft operated under part 91 must now comply with a pt 121 maintenance standards and that is whats killing these teams. The FAA has basically prohibited blanket Letters Of Deviation Authority for part 125 aircraft (FAR 125.3)... no more operating under pt 91 subpart F.

So they either put their planes on a current 121 cert or they sell and contract out for transportation. I know Vision has picked up 2 race teams so far...

If it increases safety with those new rules, than yes I am happy those rules are in place.

However, to say it is going to 'kill GA' is overkill there...

Killing GA slowly . . .

Some of out members (who have already landed their airline jobs) must be happy!
I was not hoping this would happen, just more of a bystander lol. For the race teams I don't think this rule will make anything safer. Now for other operators...who knows??

Not kill it but it is going to severely cut back the operations. If race teams can't pay for the transportation especially NASCAR teams, then how is anyone in large aircraft GA going to pay for them?

Question though is the Embraer Legacy certified as a transport category?

What about all those larger Global Expresses and BBJs?

It proabably won't do much difference.

It doesn't seem like overkill to me.
