I just read about this. From the outside, I have to say "Good for them" for trying to avoid the Big F. But like I said, I don't know the details.

Aside from offering up to 5 years off, what else was in the deal?

Do they get any kind of severance package or reduced salary while laid off? What are the rules as far as flight instructing or working for another small company doing some flying?

No severance package or reduced salary.

Yes, you can work and fly wherever you want. Some airlines used to have a policy of making you give up your seniority number if you were a furloughee from a different airline though, which would basically mean if you ever were recalled you'd have to go back to the bottom.


Most airlines allow you to keep some of your benefits if youre on a COLOA such as health insurance so long as you keep paying your part, but I've heard that some (TSA or PSA) would not.
