Drivers Record

I know this topic has been covered before, but the search engine on this sight kinda sucks. Any way, I was wondering if airlines require a complete drivers record or just one for the last three years? The lady at the DMV said that employers were only allowed to check your record over the last three years unless your were applying for a commercial drivers license or if you give them a written consent to check your whole history. That seemed like good news at first because my early driving record has 5 tickets, but then I realized that a company could just not give you an interview unless you show them your whole record if they really wanted to. Some of the threads mention bringing your drivers record as part of the required paper work to the interview and I was just wondering how far back they want it? Thanks

I am pretty sure each company has their own standard but I think most are either 5 or 10 years. I know when I was hired at my current job they wanted a 10 year history for everything. I just hadn't been driving that long

Some companies will bend to what the state laws require. If state law will only allow a 3 year certified record; then that is all you can give them. Ask someone in the know at the company. If you interview at AE you actually wont need to the log with you to interview. You will need it to pass the review board.

As others have said it depends on the state. In Michigan IIRC the edited check goes back 7 years and is what employers will get. The police or other official government agency will receive the full unedited version which goes all the way back to your leaners permit.

Also don't for get to get a copy of National Driving Records.

I had a similar question. I just started applying to some airlines and on the application they request a full driving record. In Arizona the furthest back I can get one is 5 years. However, my two violations were before that. I'm not sure the dates or exact violations they were. So my question is if I get a 5 year certified record and state "no violations" on my application, is the airline going to dig up my violations prior to that and assume I am lying on my app?

List that you have the two violations and go from there. If they find them then it isn't a big deal as you disclosed them. If you don't and the find them then you may have issues. If they are that old they shouldn't be an issue anyways. I assume they are just for minor CI's right?

The DUI probably not since it is 8 years ago and thankfully not a felony. The Disorderly Conduct may have to be explained.

I'm not sure what the SIDA badging office will say, if you needa SIDA badge....
