Dreamed of being a pilot since childhood?

You are still young so just continue to dream and work towards that goal and one day you will be there. If you plan to go onto college after HS and your grades are excellent then why not enlist in the military after college and have them train you as a pilot ? The maximum age for the military to be a pilot is 27 years of age and your eye sight has to be 20/20..Never stop believing !! Man I almost sound like a recruiter..LOL..

Always had a lil nick for aviation.

Enjoyed going to the airport watching airplanes, enjoyed just the fast paced atmosphere; planes going in and out. I started off with FSIM00 and could never land...Then i started reading all i can about it, then had enough to understand what the airplane is doing and how to react to it.

Finally, i got FSIM04 and that was much better; at least for me.

I would sit and gauck at the airplanes that would overfly us. Got my first scanner and was hooked even more.

One day of just sitting around after unsuccessful attempts to fly with some different schools, some place was open armed with me. I was actually refered by Fly spy dots and was glad eversince.

I liked the way the school was, but a twist came. I said hell, why the hell should i wait? I got my feet wet, and started taking lessons.

Now about 5-6 months later, im more focused then ever. Goal is to get my PPL by the end of highschool and it is definately attainable. I'm lucky that i have the support from family to do it or otherwise i probably would of never chased it as much as i did.

I hope with in the next 10 years, i'll be at a regional or hell if the hiring "boom" starts at an airline, a major.

Good flying all!:rawk:

The urge to fly and the urge to make aviation a career are two things that some folks use interchangably. I assure you they are not the same. If you are reading this, there is a good bet you love flying. But sticking with aviation as a career takes real dedication. Most of my professional career I have worked in extremely high stress jobs that provide for little enjoyment. At the age of 28, I decided the hell with it, I'm going to do what I love for a living. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made. My relationship with my wife is better because I'm not stressed out all the time. I don't get to drive a new Range Rover or anything, but we live well enough and I enjoy going to work every day.

There is a lot of press these days about folks leaving unfulfilling jobs to do what they love. IT"S WORTH IT!

Agreed.

Im not going to make the mistake my father did. Never pursued aviation career and now 30 years later, is kicking himself in the ass for it.

Hopefully i can it out for myself.
