Does race have anything to do with it...?

Well while chatting with my instructor he said that for the several interviews he attended, he (Asian), and the other minorities were the first person not make to the next step of the interview. My instructor to my knowledge is very qualified, he had interviews at scenic, American eagle, pinnacle, and other regional’s. He has his ATP and about 1700 hours TT, and some pic turbine as well but hasn’t landed a job after a lot of interviews, now he’s going to instruct for a flight school that has a contract with Japan airlines. But my question is, I am African American, and being so in the end will it be harder for me to get a regional job just because of it. I work for united and I have only seen a hand full of African American pilots, and only one Asian pilot in the 6 months I have been working here. Does anyone know some statistics of the diversity of airplane pilots etc…? Thanks a lot everyone

Attitude might have something to do with it. He could be frustrated from past experiences.

Since I’m Native American Indian and still have a grudge against the white man; I hope they can look past my little character flaw.

I'm a native San Joaquin Valleyian, I hold grudges against everyone.

I’m a half-breed, so I don’t belong in either world : ). I’m from the Confederate Tribes of Siletz in Oregon, born and raised on the rez. My hero’s are Crazy Horse and Chief Joseph; we’ve been fighting terrorism since the 1600’s.

i think its racist for you to sit up there and count african american and asian pilots.

get all yer ratings, build yer time, interview well.

your cfi probably sucks at interviewing

Does this mean the solution is Muslim casinos?

you mean *an* educated southerner!!!??! :-)

Elaine: "I don't know if he's black or asian, so usually we go to a bunch of Spanish restaurants - I figure that should cover us either way!"
Jerry: "Boy you're just a master of race relations!"

:nana2: more places to gamble?

Well, to me, it is a serious question. I sincerely hope race is not issue at any level. I do not interview well after some interesting interview experiences for CFI position. These experiences range from which flight school I attended to comments about a fellow JCer. :argue: For example, the answer for VFR requirement equipments, my first answer was - altimeter. The owner(former sf340 captain) repsonded that is wrong answer. He complained about the flight school where I got my training from. Of course, I did not get the job. After that interview, I always feel a lot of pressures to prove myself - fly or teach. Therefore, I sincerely hope race is not an issue. :)
