Do I need a medical?

Do I need a medical certificate to be a flight attendant? Just wondering. Reason I asked is because my aviation professor told me that I even need a medical certificate to be a flight attendant. Is it true? If so, what class of medical do I need?

You do not need an FAA-issued medical to be a flight attendant.

Airlines will subject you to their own medical screening during the hiring process, but you do not need any sort of FAA-issued medical issued by an AME.

Yeah, airlines' F/A medical screening varies widely by airline.

At AMR (Eagle & AA), the new-hire medical was quite comprehensive, but I've heard at other places it's not so much.

My medical was, here pee in this cup.

The next time I'm "randomly selected" I'm going to insist on being issued a funnel. It's really a pain and I don't have the strength and self control that I had 10 years ago. Anyone else with me on this?

Anyway, thought I'd voice a concern from the gender that doesn't sport a y chromosome. Carry on.
