Amentum McMurdo Station, Ross Island:<BR /><p>Supporting the Most Exciting and Meaningful Missions in the World</p><p> </p><p> </p>Dispatcher Lead<p> </p><p>Responsible for responding appropriate equipment or personnel to emergency and non-emergency calls for fire and emergency medical services as well as on call department services. Identifies and dispatches appropriate units; complies with USAP policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all public safety responders and the public.</p><p><p>Position Responsibilities:</p><ul> <li>Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace. Adheres to ASC Safety guidelines and participates in weekly safety meetings.</li> <li>Under the direct supervision of the dispatch supervisor, responsible for the supervision and operation of all communications and computer management for the Antarctic Fire Department. This includes the day-to-day operation of the fire department dispatch center, including but not limited to; all base station, portable and mobile radios, computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, pagers both 9-1-1, and administrative phone lines, VHF radios and fire alarm receiving system.</li> <li>Provides direct supervision of all subordinate communication coordinators (dispatchers).</li> <li>Monitors the automatic fire alarm system and dispatches emergency responders and/or technicians as appropriate and creates corresponding service requests for technicians.</li> <li>Monitors, answers, and interprets various equipment indicating facilities emergencies. Prioritizes information, delegates to the appropriate trade, and creates service requests for emergency facility work orders.</li> <li>Responsible for communicating with and notifying emergency service personnel when appropriate. (Fire Fighters, Search and Rescue (SAR), fire Technicians, Medical staff, Spill Response personnel, etc.)</li> <li>Monitors and operates HF/VHF/Satellite telephone equipment, various radio equipment and assists communications technicians with troubleshooting equipment when necessary.</li> <li>Assists with operational aircraft communications, including uncontrolled airfield announcements and distributing aircraft movement reports to field camps, other stations, fire personnel and various other departments.</li> <li>Maintains knowledge of, and tracks, vehicle movements, field parties and Recreation groups in accordance with the USAP safe travel policy, and field camp check in policies. Initiates EOC procedures as required.</li> <li>Performs communication related data entry utilizing Software, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and other applications. Responsible for accurate and timely reporting for all logs and reporting systems.</li> <li>Thoroughly communicates current and pertinent information during every shift exchange.</li> <li>Coordinates international communications and relays information to appropriate agencies. </li> <li>Handles sensitive information in a confidential manner and in accordance with PII/SI/PHI policies and procedures.</li> <li>Interacts with the National Science Foundation, military and other agency officials, both over the phone and in person, in a professional and tactful manner.</li> <li>Provides set-up and communications staffing personnel for the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during emergency events and drills.</li> <li>Coordinates radio communications as required during Fire Department, SAR or mass casualty events/drills, and conveys instructions via UHF/VHF/HF/Satellite as directed by the EOC Director.</li> <li>Notifies communications technicians when equipment malfunctions or failures occur.</li> <li>Provides communication support to personnel in the field. </li> <li>Monitors vehicle travel away from station during winter and win-fly. Initiates SAR procedures as required.</li> <li>Works a varied schedule to ensure 24/7 coverage of the communications center. This can include working day shift, night shift and station holidays and events.</li> <li>Assists Dispatch Supervisor in training of subordinate communication coordinators (dispatchers).</li> <li>Assists Dispatch Supervisor in quality assurance reviews of subordinate communication coordinators (dispatchers).</li> <li>Assists Dispatch Communications Supervisor with special projects as required.</li> <li>Performs other duties as assigned by Dispatch Supervisor.</li> </ul><p><p>Required Education, Experience, Certificates and Licenses:</p><ul> <li>4 years of emergency services (Fire, EMS, and/or Law Enforcement) dispatch experience or two years as a Dispatcher with the Antarctic Fire Department.</li> <li>Must hold a valid emergency dispatcher certification from APCO, NENA, or a state agency, and/or a DoD Telecommunicator I/II certification.</li> <li>Incident Command System (ICS) 100 and 200 certifications are required for offer consideration (training offered through FEMA).</li> </ul><p><p>Expected Skills and Competencies:</p><ul> <li>Computer skills required, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and e-mail applications. Good judgment and exceptional communication skills. </li> <li>Must have an ability to independently prioritize requests by level of urgency.</li> <li>Must have the ability to work unsupervised and possibly alone during various levels of urgency and call volume.</li> <li>Complies with applicable safety, environment, health, and waste management policies and procedure.</li> </ul><p><p>Preferred:</p><ul><li>At least two years’ previous supervisory experience</li></ul><p><p>Physical and/or Other Requirements:</p><ul> <li>Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods</li> <li>Successful completion of Medical and Dental examinations required by the NSF for deployment to Antarctica</li> <li>Successful completion of drug screening and background check required by employer</li> <li>Successful completion of Federal Background Check required by the NSF</li> <li>Must be willing and able to lift and move items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum as required by the position.</li> <li>Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors in extreme cold as required by the position.</li> <li>Must participate in community programs, such as “house-mouse” (chores), “daisy-picking” (cleaning-up around the station), recycling efforts &amp; safety objectives.</li> <li>Valid Driver’s License issued in the United States</li> </ul><p> </p><p>Amentum is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
