Dispatch Apprenticeship

Well-met in the Ka-tet
It's at Republic. (I first saw this on JC, actually, so I am not positive as to the current status of their program. RP dispatchers, feel free to chime in.)

I've never been there before, but I knew someone that worked there and enjoyed it. Also, United has hired several dispatchers from there, so definitely not a bad place to start dispatching at. And getting your license for free is a nice bonus.

Wish they would do a class of externals☹️

You aren't wrong. This type of program doesnt really make much sense for regional dispatch. Theres no shortage of dispatchers and a regional dispatcher isnt going to stick around long enough for it to make a difference. The cost of re-paying the course isnt high enough to discourage anyone smart from leaving if the majors called their number.

Delta has had an in house program because a dispatcher will stay there for several decades so having as many dispatchers as possible trained to always follow the company fuel line makes sense. Delta has been hiring a lot externally with experience lately so these kinds of programs obviously have limited success in getting dispatchers to follow the company line.

I was apart of the very first class. We had a lot of Externals. Great experience and yeah pay is low during class, but the class was engaging and intense.

I don't read where it's only asking for internals, announcement appears to be for externals with internals specifically mentioned for specific reasons.

Go ahead apply anyway, the worst they can say is no thank you.

I tried through linkedin and immediately got a message from the recruiter saying “thank you for your interest but because you already have your dispatch certificate you would not be eligible for this position”

Sucks because I like Indianapolis quite a bit.

Pay to COL ratio doesnt seem that bad either for Republic pay
