DIA Touch and go's

Back in '06 I would routinely do pattern work with students at BWI during the middle of the day. The 5000 ft 15L/33R was out of the way enough. Closed traffic was never a problem.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to do it over the weekend. I'll try it around 2200 or 2300. I'll update everyone on how it goes. Incidently, what does 'closed traffic' mean?

I used to fly into LAX at 1700 in a 172 VFR - they are pretty much like any other airport, except you hear funny accents on the radio!

Ok, so I made an attempt at it this weekend, but had to abort. While doing my run-up at BJC, I noticed the amp gauge was deflected full to the right. Tried recycling the alternator, but that didn't help. I was thinking that the voltage regulator might be shot, and didn't want to find out in the air, at night, and at a class bravo airport. I called up ground and requested to taxi back to the ramp. It was rather interesting to watch the GV behind me have to manuever around me, only to clear our wings by about 15ft.

I'm going to try again sometime this week.

They let me in to the 16,000 foot runway with a 30 knot headwind in a 152. Just ask nicely and leave them be if they are busy.

...btw, I was away last week so didn't respond but, yes, DIA can be pretty friendly to light aircraft landings when it's not busy.

Have fun when you do, shouldn't be an issue. I used to take my students there quite a bit, good times!
